Insides are all shellacked up...

Mirror installed...Chain Stay installed...Raise the main tray up and out....

And there is the Fancy Tray....set that on top of the main tray..

And slide the Secret Tray to the rear...Handle details...

Secret Tray is a very simple little box...ok, put everything back into the box...and shut the lid..

 

I had bought a can of stain..Ipswich Pine...tested it on some scrap Ash.....EEwww...Got out the Witch's Brew can and a Proper can opener..

Dumped the pink-ish stain in and mix it in...then stain the bottom...

no, that is NOT Walnut..that is merely OLD luann plywood...set the box down..and do all the sides...

Brush on..wipe down...until finally..

Will let this set a while..then a top coat of some sort tomorrow?

Outside of the box....now has one coat of Amber Shellac....instant colour change to a darker.."amber" colour.  Needs hand-sanded to 320, then a second coat should do the trick..   Will post a few pictures tomorrow...

Not sure about green or Red Felt for in the trays, yet...there is also a set of brass feet that may or not get installed..

Thinking maybe a resaw is in order?  We'll see..

Nicely done Bandit.  Very clever design. Really like the raised panel lid. You could just put felt pads for the feet or felt over the entire bottom

Moldeled after an Officer's Box from the Old Army & Navy Store...holds all the stuff so the Officer can look presentable on Parade....Shaving Kit, and grooming....and a stash for other "personal" items....including  his stash of cash....

The main Tray and the fancy tray get a layer of felt..waiting on glue to dry...decided to add some feet...even though these did not have such things..

Takes 4 screws per foot...

Has been delivered to the bedroom, for now..

 

Have no idea how THIS happened,,
