I am enjoying this, I can get used to this. As usual our timed projects are taken right up to the last minute, and true to form the wedding cross I made for our daughter, I put the last coat of wax on it the day before. My son and I moved it into place the morning of her wedding and it looked pretty good. The wedding was held at Kimberly Crest of Redlands CA. The cross. October 10, 20223 yr Popular Post Busy weekend but nothing accomplished in the garage. Youngest grandson's soccer match Saturday AM, then a number of errands in the afternoon. Daughter, SIL, boys came by for dinner. Boys decided they were spending the night. Sunday school and church Sunday AM. Got ready to leave, boys got in our car...said they were going out to lunch with us which included ice cream (for them) after. Then they decided they should spend the afternoon with us. Back at the church late afternoon for Family Fellowship, Food (pizza) and Christmas Tree ornament making. Women of the church decided church tree this year would have only handmade ornaments. Since I'm craft impaired, I was assigned to the "chain gang" with two other deacons. We managed to produce a rather long paper chain without stapling anything but the links. However, we were not allowed to use the paper cutter. Thankfully only three colors in the mix...red, white, green. Mowing, yard work, outdoor winter prep on agenda for next couple of days before rain moves in. Maybe some tool time later in the week. Whatever you're doing, work smart and work safe. Remember, work is called work because, otherwise it would be called fun.

October 10, 20223 yr Popular Post many years ago i looked into starting a for profit woodworking business, but quickly determined that various levels of .gov would have their hands out every day looking for their cut, and various licenses and fees that would need to be kept current, as well as tracking expenses and income in a detailed manner and filing regular reports with .gov. and figured that if i actually sold anything for profit, that .gov would be taking about 50% of the money....pass on that. i have no need to work past noon for .gov's benefit, and then have to spend my evenings or weekends keeping books and filling out reports on what i've done. forget it, i'll just give it away. but i am happy.
October 11, 20223 yr Popular Post Been very busy both at work and with my unit in Ukraine. Good news is they are taking back stolen land and giving the orcs a lesson in retreating.
October 11, 20223 yr Popular Post Did pallbearer duty for an old friend we lost last weekAM and half afternoon. Then back onto the cabinet. Got the sides glued today and started prep on the two shelves and top. these are for the doors. A little work with the number 8 to get good joints. Takes a lot of clamps to do two of these at once.

With that kind of compliments we need to hire someone to mow your yard, Oh it must have stopped growing by now.

October 11, 20223 yr Popular Post Spent Monday working on the "Mouse Motel" project after driving wife to the grocery store and having a mouse fall or jump out of the blower motor housing and run accross her feet. She didn't think it was funny, but I darned near wrecked laughing. Spent about an hour looking through the factory service manual and decided there just has to be an easier way to get at that one bolt the FSM says you have to remove the dash to get at. I remembered having the passengers side air-bag removed for when I added tweeters to the radio, and wondered if I could possibly get at that bolt through the air-bag opening in the dash. Turns out I could. Here's a few photos of the project. First up a view through the air-bag opening. I cut the felt pad sound deadening material so I could fold it out of the way. I also removed the duct mounting screws so I could gain enough room to get an open end/box end wrench at that one bolt. The left side screw comes in from the back into that square clip nut. The right side screw also comes from the back side through the lower left hole by the duct opening. Which after prying up the duct allows access to this bolt. Had to flip/flop an open end/box end wrench to get it loose. There's also a nut that's barely visable in this photo showing inserting the "Critter Screen" between the blower motor housing foam seal and the inside of the cowl. Glad I've got long arms, had to work it in from both inside reaching up through the blower motor mounting hole, and outside reaching through the air-bag opening in the dash. Here's a view of the screen installed looking up through the blower motor mounting hole. Screen size is 5 3/4" X 10". And a view without the camera flash that shows how much light you can see through the opening. Hopefully this closes the "Mouse Motel", at least I shouldn't find another stinky mouse nest inside the blower motor/evaporator housings. Still have to replace the cabin air filter, and reinstall the glove box, but this sure beat removing the whole dash just to get at that one bolt.
October 11, 20223 yr Popular Post Ambitious project Larry. Glad you got the rodent barrier installed. Pretty sure I'd never tackle one like this....mostly because if a mouse ever dropped out on my wife's feet, once the paramedics revived her and the screaming subsided, she would have torched the vehicle on the spot.

Wifes not actually scared of mice, but she definitely was surprised when it ran accross her feet. Glad I was driving not sure what would have happened if she was. I definitley got "The Look" and told "Get this #%&$@* thing closed up"! For the first time in 4 days I didn't have to "Evict" any "Unwanted Tenants" from the cigar box live trap I've been baiting with dry cat food.
