HandyDan Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 Sun made yesterday look nice but didn't add much warmth. Didn't even hit the 30° slated high. Cloudy today with 31° the predicted high. No precipitation today but a wintry mix is scheduled for tomorrow. Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 3 1 Quote
4DThinker Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 20° with a bitter cold north wind making it feel like 6°. Humidity at 62%. Max temp predicted to be just 23° before sliding back to an overnight low of 14° when snow starts at midnight. Snow looking to persist until 11:00AM tomorrow. No doom or gloom in the forecast. Just snow. And snow. And snow. 4D Larry Buskirk, HandyDan, HARO50 and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted February 11 Popular Post Report Posted February 11 4:15P, EDT; looks like 35° is today's top score. No sun all day with the heavy, gray clouds blocking any view. NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory an hour ago beginning 1P tomorrow through 4A Thursday; Up to .25" of ice along with 3" of snow. Could be more of one versus the other depending on the final track. Does groundhog taste like chicken? Asking for a friend. Fred W. Hargis Jr, 4DThinker, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 12 Popular Post Report Posted February 12 We also it 35° yesterday, but it was the gray, gloomy type of 35°, some wind as well. This morning it's 27° and low 30s again today. Cloudy as well, and that freezing rain will be here around 2P or so. There's no call for snow accumulation in our area, but the ice may be .1" up to maybe '25"; we don't really need that. My dad used to tell me that groundhog was actually pretty good if it was a young one (deep south KY. fare, apparently). I've never had the pleasure, can't say that I want to, either. Popular Post 4DThinker Posted February 12 Popular Post Report Posted February 12 (edited) Woke up to snow. Ongoing Winter Storm - Warning. About 2-3" so far. Shoveled a quick path down my driveway to the street to leave my trash can, although I doubt the trash man will come by today. Surprised by how many different animal tracks were freshly left across the snow. 11° feeling like -7° with a 9mph wind from the north east. Humidity 84%. Visibility 3.3 miles. Looks like 11° may be the high for today. Snow should stop around 1PM. So far no "closed" warnings have shown up in my email. Still early though. Brrr. 4D Edited February 12 by 4DThinker Fred W. Grandpadave52 Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 7:53A, EDT; 26°, RF 13, ENE wind gusting to ~20 mph, gray overcast with no evidence of a sunrise. Already had a snow squall pass through as a primer. NWS reminded us at 2:57A we're still under a Winter Weather Advisory. 32°, if that, will be the high. Looks like we're still in that band for ice first followed by a snow topping. HARO50, Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 7:05 AM CDT 18° RF 1° Forecast high of 24° Wind NE at 9 MPH RH 77% DP 12° BP 30.15" Winter Storm Warning with 3-9" of YUCK forecast through the day. HandyDan Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 We have a winter weather advisory going for today. A mixture of rain and snow are supposed to be our blessing. Temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 30s all day and overnight tonight. 40° is the high listed for tomorrow. Fred W. Hargis Jr, 4DThinker, HARO50 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

4DThinker Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 Snow stopped when predicted at close to 1:00PM. Bundled up and took my EGO snow blower out to clear the driveway and sidewalk. Looked like 4-5 inches which the EGO handled easily. The wind kept switching directions though which made aiming where the blower blew the snow an interesting game. 15° now. Mostly cloudy. Still a chilly breeze from the north up to 11mph. Humidity 71%. Visibility up to 8.1 miles. A chilly overnight low to bottom out at -1° but warmer tomorrow in the 20s, and even warmer on Friday into the 40s. New neighbor across the street knocked on my door to enquire about my snow blower. Neighbor to my right has a gas powered one. 2-car wide driveways are a pain to hand shovel. He was impressed with how relatively quiet and easy to stop/start my EGO was. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 12 Popular Post Report Posted February 12 That stuff that bothered you is heading toward our neck of the woods now. At this point the predictions for us are just the freezing rain, the snow is further north. As I type this things haven't quite forze over yet, despite the misty drizzle we've had since about 1P. Started here about 5:45, gentle at first but steadily getting worse. The forecasters are making it into a BIG THING, worst storm of the month/year/decade/century/millennium (take your pick). Then they predict 6" to 10" of snow. Heck, I remember when they didn't even get the plows out until it hit 12"! I know, I know... I'll shut up now. Popular Post HandyDan Posted February 13 Popular Post Report Posted February 13 We're getting some light rain with a few flakes thrown around now and then. Too warm to lay anything down and the same for tomorrow is predicted. 36° here at 11:00PM. Fred W. Hargis Jr, 4DThinker, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 5 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 I have ice cleats to strap on my hunting boots. I don't think I've used them in 4-5 years, last night I put them the boots for the third time in the last 2 weeks. I almost forgot how to do it. Anyway, we had a mist drizzle most of the day yesterday that turned into a harder rain around 4P or so. That started freezing around 6P and we pretty quickly got a light coating of ice on most things. The roads seem to be OK since they pretreated them, but my drive may be a little slick. Even so it's a warmish 31° this morning so de Icer should work really well. But that's it for the day, although it's supposed to be precipitation free. Now al the weather talk has turned to an impending storm this weekend, and the bitter cold we expect early in the coming week. Larry Buskirk, HARO50, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted February 13 Popular Post Report Posted February 13 High temperature fluctuated between 28°-29° all day yesterday. Starting about NOON, we began with a heavy mist until about 4P. It then became the trifecta of wet snow, sleet and rain. We've ended up with about an inch of it covering the ground. 10:48A, EDT; all the way up to 19°, RF, 8° from the earlier low of 18°. As you might suspect, heavy gray sky, WNW wind gusting to 22 mph; might reach 25° for the high. The joy of winter is wearing thin right now. I say "UNCLE!" Popular Post HARO50 Posted February 13 Popular Post Report Posted February 13 Well, the "storm of the century" has been reduced to "the worst storm of the winter", which really isn't saying much, as we've been having a pretty mild one so far. After blowing about 6" out of the driveway, I was rather surprised to find almost double that much on the rear deck! I guess the wind hit the back of the house and dropped a good portion of the sh stuff before moving on. 4DThinker, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 3 2 Quote
