Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted February 4 Popular Post Report Posted February 4 Even with more clouds than sun yesterday we hit 62°. Wind was annoying but not a deal breaker. It was nice while it lasted. 10:31A, EDT; Dropped to 29° overnight; we're at 32°, RF 22° now. North wind pretty steady at 15 mph. Mostly sunny with a thin layer of clouds. Won't make it to 40° today. Upper 20's tonight. A real mixed bag of winter forecast for the next few days. It changes with every forecast update. #@?π§@#! Groundhog! Larry Buskirk, HandyDan, Fred W. Popular Post 4DThinker Posted February 4 Popular Post Report Posted February 4 Should be 36° by now but reality strikes and 27° is our high for today. Feels like 19° with a 9mph wind from the north east. Humidity at 63%. UV index at 3. Tomorrow's guess for a rain/snow chance is now just for a little rain between 2 and 3PM. As for animals that predict the future I rate them at a 10% chance to be right after 6 weeks give that human meteorologists are at best 50% for guessing the actual weather details for the next day. 4D HandyDan, Fred W. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 5 Popular Post Report Posted February 5 Today starts at 24° and maybe gets up to 30° later. But to insure the misery index is way up there, mother nature will kepp it cloudy all day, until it starts to rain later. Of course this will be a freezing rain. We might get a glaze to maybe .2". Then overnight tonight it starts warming up...which might be the only good thing in the forecast. Tomorrow we'll be near 50 or so. This isn't only confusing to me, I saw some daffodils peeking out of the ground yesterday. HARO50, 4DThinker, HandyDan and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 We reached 37° with mixed clouds and sun. Wind was from ENE but wasn't horrible; just brought a bite with it. 9:38A, EDT; up from the low of 26°, to 29° RF 20°, ENE wind 12-16 mph. Heavy overcast. Rain, sleet, freezing rain all in the forecast depending on the timing and the fronts final trajectory. Just another day in the ever changing Indiana weather. Before we know it, we'll get our 5 days of spring, then we'll be roasting in heat and humidity for 3 months. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Larry Buskirk, HandyDan and 1 other 3 1 Quote
HandyDan Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 Mostly cloudy today with a high of 29°. Not much chance of precipitation until after midnight tonight when there is a mixture of snow ,rain and freezing rain slated. With tomorrows high listed in the mid 40s whatever we get should surely melt. Friday and the following week the temps go back to more normal which is the low 30s. Popular Post 4DThinker Posted February 5 Popular Post Report Posted February 5 Just as I suspected, the noontime rain prediction has disappeared and been replaced by a Winter Weather Warning for the afternoon. 29° and cloudy that feels like 33°. 92% humidity. Visibility down to 6.8 miles. I suspect the weather app is playing mind games just to keep itself interesting as "More of the same" wouldn't have been worth a click on it otherwise. 4D DuckSoup, HandyDan, Fred W. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 6 Popular Post Report Posted February 6 It was a dark and stormy night....and an extremity noisy one as well. The freezing rain moved in on schedule, and it really came down hard for a spell. But what really surprised me was the thunder that followed. We were warned there might be some thunder following the rain, but it was extremely loud, and the thunderclaps were quite numerous; worse than most spring time storms we have. Then all of a sudden it quit and was relatively quiet the rest of the night. So this morning we'er iced in, I don't know how much but I can see a good coating on the drive. It's 34° at the moment, and should be in the upper 30s later (bummer, they were calling for warmer temps). After it gets light enough I'll strap on my ice grippers and treat the drive. Marie has an 11:30A doctor appt. this morning. I'm guessing it will be warm enough melt all this by then (I hope), HARO50, 4DThinker, DuckSoup and 3 others 2 4 Quote
Popular Post 4DThinker Posted February 6 Popular Post Report Posted February 6 27° and clear this morning. Expected high to be 44°by mid afternoon. Humidity 78%. Wind 12mph from the south east. Be careful about icy surfaces. The last fall I had was stepping out of my pickup onto ice covered driveway. Gravity won. Grip on shoes lost. DuckSoup, HARO50, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 3 3 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted February 6 Popular Post Report Posted February 6 It took all day but finally made it to 34° yesterday. The wind put a real bite on the air too. Got a few quick, brief rounds late afternoon and early evening of some sleet + rain but fortunately no ice buildup. Like @Fred W. Hargis Jr, I was baffled when my phone set off a lightning alert about 9P. Numerous, real time lightning strikes were showing just south of us with the temperature 32° at the time. Bizarre, but hey, it's Indiana. 9:10A, EDT; Dropped to 31° by midnight, back to 34° ~6A, but now is at 32°, RF 23°. We had a dense fog advisory earlier, but the fog fizzled too. A heavy overcast now. West wind 10-20 mph. We might break 40° if the sun appears. Around 20° tonight. HandyDan, Larry Buskirk, DuckSoup and 3 others 5 1 Quote

Popular Post HandyDan Posted February 6 Popular Post Report Posted February 6 We got a little bit of rain causing a little bit of ice. The school bus picked the kids up on time. It's 30° and should hit the low 40s so we're good to go. Tomorrow is calling for sunny and a high of 29°. 4DThinker, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post kmealy Posted February 6 Popular Post Report Posted February 6 Freezing rain last night. Fortunately, the ground (i.e., roads) were still warm, but exposed areas got ice. Tree at the end of my road fell on a power line and we were without power from about 10:15 to 1:00 am. Fortunately, the back-up sump pump power held out because we had a lot of rain. Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 Yetserday after the ice melted, it was just not a nice day. Windy, cloudy, and only about 35° (which at least was enough to melt the ice) made it miserable to be outside. This morning it's 28° and will be in the lower 30s later and we may see some sun. I didn't hear anything about the wind but I'll bet it's still here. Then tomorrow we get (yippee) some more freezing rain. Winter sucks around here, but this one more than usual. Popular Post 4DThinker Posted February 7 Popular Post Report Posted February 7 24° and clear. Feels like 14°. Humidity at 81%. Wind up to 6mph from the east. High should hit 39°, maybe 40° today. 42° tomorrow but back into the 20s and 30s for highs after that for a couple weeks. Wednesday the 12th show a 48% chance of light snow from 4AM to 4PM. Too far in the future to trust IMO. Could develop into a blizzard or disappear by then. 4D Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 5 Quote
HandyDan Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 No ice storm yesterday so we got a buy there. Mostly sunny today with temperatures staying below 30°. Winds over 10MPH predicted so windy but not too bad. Tomorrow we get above freezing but the rain and snow return to the big picture too. Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Grandpadave52 Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 Yesterday is in the books. Finally made it to 36°, then the sun came out and it dropped to 34°. Eventually made it back to 35° after an hour of sunshine. Wind shifted to NNW ~20 mph to enhance the afternoon. 9:30A, EDT; started at 22° and could at least see the sunrise. A blistering 23°, RF 15° now with a blanket of gray clouds smothering the sun; NNW wind 5-10 mph. High of 38° predicted (for somewhere). A wintery mix concoction overnight into tomorrow to further enhance the enjoyment of bleak, cold, damp, and sometimes mud infused weather. Winter is fun, said no sane person ever. Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 We were at 30° yesterday, but it was bearable later in the day since the wind had calmed down quite a bit. This morning we're at 27° and should be in the mid 30s later. But before it gets that warm we may still have some freezing rain. Just a coating but that's all it takes to keep me out of the car.
