Wife & I spent most of weekend resting while watching episodes of Gunsmoke, Wagon Train and Rawhide. Still battling the not so common, Common Cold.

Truck threw a hissy fit Friday on way home from vet. Retrieved a P0301 code = #1 cylinder misfire. Captured my get-up & go long enough late Saturday to locate my hoarded used parts inventory old coils. 5.4L, COP (coil on plug). I'd replaced #1 cylinder coil on 5/14/17 with an aftermarket (Advance Auto). Only had about 37k miles on it. Anyways, swapped with 1/4 OEM good coils I had hoarded saved back. They have ~167k and to my knowledge are originals? Fixed for now. I'll pick up a couple new ones this week.

Attended church services remotely yesterday. While feeling some better, our coughs are worse than our bites. BTW, if you see my get-up & go, tell it to get up & go home please.

Heading to the shop since it is raining.  Doing some re-configuring and cleaning.

A Local women got my name and wanted a floor lamp repaired. The wiring was fried in one of the arms and all 3 arms were missing the protective plastic covers on the adjustable sockets.

Nearly every day I'm in my shop for some reason.  Today was to update the plywood cargo box I built for my electric motorcycle.  Woke up knowing how to solve a problem that had vexed me for a month or so. The box has two brackets that slip over a beam from the back end. Was to be a friction fit but the beam is an odd shape and my guess at the shape was off.  The box slides on easily but also slides off when I'm riding. The fix was a cam clamp made from a 1" dowel that has 3/4" diameter ends offset from center. Mounted between two brackets in .76" holes the dowel pulls/clamps snug against the beam in one position (down) but eases up when rotated up. Some friction tape around the dowel in a couple of places and now I don't worry about the cargo box sliding off when I'm riding the motorcycle.

Two theories on how I came up with this solution:  One is that my mind finally mixed together past experiences until it had a good enough solution to present to me in my early morning dream state.  Second theory was that the solution was always there. It was just waiting for me to see it.

Well I started on this barn door for my shop office when I retired 6 years ago. I bought the hardware and just couldn’t get going on the door. Then I saw something I like and decided to make my door something similar. I took leftover pieces from making cutting boards and used for the bottom panel. Different widths but used them up. I had a piece of double pain glass so I made the opening fit the glass. Got it hung today and got to make a few adjustments but it should keep some of the dust out of my office and I can mark off a long over due project.

By the way it’s nice to be back and post again.

Finished up 10 boxes to hold Yahtzee games.  Sawed off the lids and added inner liners to hold the lids on.   Need to get the instruction sheets laminated.

Jointed and planed wood (QSWO) for 10 Quoridor games.   Got 5 glued up until I had to wait for clamps for the next round.  Using what was once considered "scrap" by someone else.  image.png.4ca2117311ed8bc39acc3886209dbc9b.png

Got two workshop hints accepted by WOOD magazine and got a check for $175 today, woot!  One was a fool-proof way to shorten a set of legs.  I used this all the time to adjust barstools, countertop stools, and tables that were just  too high.   The other was a sliding cross-cut table that can adjust to any angle easily and you can make it in just a few minutes.
