December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Looks like I'll have to get used to putting 2022 on the date pretty quick. I done ran out of calender pages. In the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be making a run just a little north of Chi-Town today. Will be picking up neighbor, he ran his wife's Blazer back last evening after we tow barred it here and replaced the fuel pump, and did an oil change. Of course we did the fuel pump the easy way by cutting an access hole through the cargo area floor so we wouldn't have to go through the added work of dropping, and reinstalling the gas tank. We're getting to or maybe smart for that crawling underneath and fighting with rusted straps etc.crap. So,,, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Me? I'm running full bore into the weekend. With a bit of luck, I will apply final coats of wipe on poly to the entertainment center carcass and base today. Lid & doors likely will take a few more coats. With a bit of luck, will pick up sofa today and get it in the house. They haven't called to tell me it was in yet, but I expect to hear from them this AM. With a bit of luck, will head to the auction Sat. AM and make final decision on the truck - if it's a go, with a bit of luck I will have another truck in the driveway. With a bit of luck (?) UGA Dawgs will prevail in their SEC championship matchup vs Alabama Sat. I will be watching!!! Supposed to be in the upper 70's today This is my kind of weather It won't last, so I am trying to take advantage of it while I can. Yesterday I removed the cover from my truck bed in preparation of picking up the sofa. While I was at it I went ahead and did the fall cleanup with a wash and wax (between coats of poly to the EC). I have a small patio area on the back of the house. Two days ago I started putting down patio blocks until I ran out of landscape fabric. If I make it to town today to pick up the sofa I plan to pick up a roll of the fabric so I can finish that part of the job.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post An appt. for oil and lube on the truck at 08:30. Took it to another place yesterday and was told to leave it and come back in 4 hr.s. That ain't gonna cut it! After that, it's back to de cluttering. That job is almost done. Then, finish a box for a gift. Probably tinker with the Frankensmith some more. My foresightfulness hasn't improved. Don't have a clue about tomorrow's endeavors. I'm sure a nap is on the agenda, though.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Put the plow on the side by side yesterday while it was relatively warm. Hopefully it won't snow and I'll have wasted the time it took to install. Still working at Christmas. Making good progress.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Heading out in a bit to Oz. Several errands/stops one of which is the planet Walmart; back home, unload, regroup. Help daughter's fiancé find/fix fuel leak on his truck Back on youngest granddaughters Trailblazer. Got the radiator out yesterday; install new radiator, hoses, coolant, thermostat, electric fan clutch, fan blade, shroud. All subject to how long my back and leg hold up. Mrs. GrandpaDave has a birthday today but big celebration will be held over the weekend. Youngest granddaughter has swim meet tonight but don't think it's livestreamed. I'll follow along via MeetMobile results Unforseen, unplanned catastrophes and events TBD. BTW, 21 Shopping Days left until Christmas if you're planning to procrastinate.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Heading to the butcher shop to order my meats for the holiday weekends. Dryer motor to arrive at local vendor today, I hope. Dan, I hate to see anyone waste time or energy but this time I am rooting for ya

December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Jeez, @Cal you put me to shame! Gonna make a foot slant board for Mimi. She said the one at rehab is really helping relieve some of the pain in her leg.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Oil change done! Took less than 30 minutes. 6 qts of synthetic stuff plus filter...$75. $35 less than the other place. Good for another 5000 miles. De cluttering about done. After lunch and a nap, the gift box gets its finish. Tomorrow it gets it's inside flocked. Next Tuesday, the stiffening bars for Frank will be done. Then, the tinkering will cease!
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Loaded the truck with product for tomorrows Jingle Bell Market. Will go this afternoon to setup. Hey that is almost all weekend. Sunday evening church musical and that is it for the weekend, then next week the rush begins . Making presents and finishing seven bowls on consignment (oh boy what did I get into). Ok backup plan is use leftover product for presents this year??
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Took Gracie to our vet this morning to get checked out. Clean bill of health. Back in a couple of weeks to get a couple of booster shots. Planning on twice turning and inlaying a pecan bowl. More on that later. .40

IDK how long it had been cut and stored in his Wyoming garage but it was brittle and a bear to work with. How does yours turn? From my experience with it, I'd expect a lot of tears and chip outs. Hope you have better luck.
December 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Gene when we had the motor home they ask me to stop in and they would draw some motor oil out of the engine and analize it and tell me if the oil needed changing. This started at about 8,000 miles and if it didn't need it in a thousand or so come back for another check... They said if the motor has not been in the mountains no need to come in so often.. It had a Caterpiller engine. Like all the other things I have or had I took their advise and usually did the changing myself..If I remember it took 22 quarts.

Hope you have better luck. Seems to vary greatly from piece to piece. Some of the blanks (All came from the same tree) were tough and stringy while others were easy to turn like walnut. Sharp tools (frequently re-sharpend) seem to be the order of the day. .40

December 4, 20214 yr Popular Post My weekend agenda is get the bottom of the grandsons toybox completed. About to head out to get some 3/4 plywood. Then laminate some cedar onto it. If I get time construct something inner corner supports. I say time because the one who has to be obeyed ( 😉 ) wants me to do some Christmas honeydoos. The goal is by the end of weekend have the bottom and all of the inside completed. that way next weekend do the top.
