November 19, 20214 yr Popular Post Friday again folks. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're already getting tired of the cold. Had a rather windy night last night. Heard something go "CRASH" out in the yard. I'll be waiting for the temperature to get up to freezing (now 23°) before I check out what it was. Probably another load of firewood for the wood-burner. Just can't seem to get caught up. Another thing to add to the list. So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
November 19, 20214 yr Popular Post Nothing special going on out here. Our twin sons are gong to be celebrating their birthdays at our house. But that's not special. They've already done that 42 times. Well, not always at our house. Just the first 18. My lack of foresight has caused me more work, once again. Got al the shop cabinets arranged and full. Now, I realize that there's no room for the floor standing propane heater we lugged down here. Today will be spent unloading a big cabinet, moving it and replacing the tools stored therein. At my pace, the heating unit will be in place (but not plumbed) sometime tomorrow.
November 19, 20214 yr Popular Post Still paying a support role for Marie's baking extravaganza ahead of Thanksgiving with the family here. I did get my replacement mail box post assembled and ready for paint...had to go get another sheet of MDO this morning to finish one last snow blast shield thingy...Gene isn't the only one with a lack of foresight.

Fred, we should start a support group.
November 19, 20214 yr Popular Post Picking away at a couple of projects -- pantry barn doors and a charcuterie board (for which need to get some TB II). Saturday morning at the furniture bank with a bunch of outside volunteers. We made 20 tables yesterday with 4 people in less than 3 hrs, including the donut break. Well, the others did, I repaired a dresser, a tv stand, two tables, started a third, but decided I didn't have screws short enough. I decided I spent too much time running back to the tool room for one tool or another, looking for hardware, etc. I reloaded my old work tote and it will go in with me in the future. Wednesday, I picked up a used Delta contractor's saw that a guy was getting rid of to get a new SawStop. It will go to the theater shop as soon as I get some help to unload as it has a huge shop-built base. Edited November 19, 20214 yr by kmealy

November 19, 20214 yr Popular Post @Gunny. While the whole project is well thought out (as usual) and executed, there's one aspect that rises to the top and is my favorite. THANKS! Edited November 19, 20214 yr by Grandpadave52 typos
November 19, 20214 yr Author Popular Post That "CRASH" we heard during the night must have been one of those orange construction barrels getting run over. Nice and SUNNY out there. But,...Brrrr Just checked, ... We made it up to FREEZING. Edited November 19, 20214 yr by Larry Buskirk

November 20, 20214 yr Popular Post Shop door replaced last Thursday. Planning to spend a little time out there. Not sure about exactly what yet. .40
November 20, 20214 yr Popular Post Shop heater in place. Now to plumb it. Low temps in the high 40s. But, I usually sleep through all that. Gotta get a couple 40 lb propane tanks. I've got time! Today, after a bit more shop organization, the FrankenSmith Re-assembling can commence. Dug out the instructions, so I'm set...probably???
November 20, 20214 yr Popular Post I have a few things going on for this weekend. The entertainment center construction is nearly complete, and should be today. For the last few days I've been running some finishing tests on scrap with "poor" results. The request is a pickled white carcass with amber colored doors. The wood in question is baltic birch. The amber doors I've got. The pickled carcass, not so much. I've tried both oil base and water base gel stain (MinWax) in white to get the color, but no color remains after I wipe it off. Yesterday I sent an email to MinWax and did get a suggestion to try for today, but I am close to saying this just ain't going to get a pickled white finish Today is Saturday. UGA plays Charleston Southern. Airs on channels we don't get. I will be watching the OSU game. I also need to get the leaves up off the lawn, but there only remains a few left on the maple trees so I may try to wait a few days for those to come off first.
