Dry fitting all the milled parts, so far......we have a LOT of work to do....

Well, 82.75% +or- of the pallet boards are on the wall. The remaining 17.25% +or- will be up by tomorrow afternoon. Ladder work. Slow going. 

The first 82.75% +or- looks great. It's almost a shop!

Since I got the Pilots motor reassembled enough to test, I decided to do a compression test instead of the Cylinder Leak-Down Test.

The results looked pretty good for a motor with 272K miles on it.

Did the test two different ways.

First by cranking the motor over one revolution per cylinder.

Rear bank pressure readings, 90-80-85 PSI

Front bank pressure readings, 87-85-92 PSI

Then I cranked the motor over six revolutions per cylinder.

Rear bank pressure readings, 205-185-190 PSI

Front bank pressure readings, 185-185-210 PSI

Have you had any problems getting parts?

It took me a while to find a dealer that had parts in stock.

Others were telling me 1-2 weeks maybe longer.

Best friend owns an engine shop.  He has been complaining about getting parts last six to eight months.

Yes, supply at dealers has been horrible.  Aftermarket parts not so bad.  BUT, delivery of those parts, as in the wait time.  Speed could best be described as Glacial.   Sometimes they send them via an Uber driver.

Where Larry lives he is two weeks from anywhere, he would never know the difference.

At least it didn't happen by the SIL's, she's "Three Weeks From Anywhere". 

Couldn't imagine what a 200+ mile tow bill would have been.

Got garden hose hanger all painted up. Used 1 inch steel pipe fittings Dad had a ton of in shop. Added some paint and installed mounting block on wall.  Not bad.

 

New dryer is getting a workout. 

 

Need to take this all apart..

Have one dado to deepen, and another to completely do....need to skim a bit off the front edges of the side panels....and cut some plywood to size  

 

Errands to run today...then we'll see how today goes.....

Anybody know if Porter cable puts dates of manufacture on their tools?  Trying to date this sander model 333 I found at Dad's place

I only have 3 from their made-in-USA days, and none have a date on them. I suspect there was a way at one time, but that's likely been lost in the ownership changes the brand went through.

maybe I should try it out?

More of a powered Jack plane...LOUD...prefer the swish of a non-powered plane..

Even IF it wants to lean a bit.....should have used the cam rest.

Will check this evening. Sander pad came apart when I turned it on.  Ordered new pad and a belt. $12.

 

Turns out that first Timing Belt Water Pump kit was Counterfeit. I had filed a Counterfeit Item complaint with ebay! and it appears that they aren't going to do anything about it. A little after 1:00 this afternoon I got a phishing text claiming to be PayPal. I checked the link, and it was asking for my user name and password. I called PayPal and asked what it was about and they stated that they don't send texts to say that a payment was declined. I then asked about the timing kit, and explained that I had sent two messages to the seller but received no response, and had filed a complaint with ebay!. I gave them the transaction number and the person got their supervisor involved. After they searched the sellers feedback they made an immediate decision in my favor to refund the full amount from the sellers account. They also said that the seller has no choice but to contact them, they locked his account! I also asked if it was possible to check if that seller was selling under more than one ebay! account, and they said not a problem. So if he's using the same PayPal account for more than one ebay! account it looks like he's now out of luck!

For some things buying through eBay and other sources the risk is worth reward. In the case of timing belts and kits, not at all.
