Mow day today, after spending some time over the weekend reaffirming that I don't like wood decks. Got the horizontal surfaces on mine stained. As much as that sucked, I think it was the easier part of the job. After the mowing, I'll give some thought to the edges of the deck boards in the gaps, as well as the balusters and supporting members.

Thanks Steve for stepping up on the Monday topic. My own mother had been in the hospital for the last week and a half, and she's not doing too well.

She is getting discharged to an acute care nursing facility, I'm taking the day off today and take her some personal belongings to make her feel more at home. Busy busy! Hope everyone has an awesome week ahead!

Jury trial was cancelled.  No jury duty for me.  Just wasted part of the morning.

Another week at the J.O.B. ahead.  Did you notice that is nearly the same as S.O.B and both of them are four letter words?  <_< :)

Thunderstorms rolling through this morning.

@steven newman,

Sorry Steven, but it was just too good of a setup! ;)

Busy weekend, need a day off from my day off.

Did some measuring in front yard.  Need to replace some 4 inch corrugated black plastic drain pipe.  Will be changing over to 4 inch PVC drain pipe.  Over the years the plastic pipe has become distorted, cracked and as a result subject to periodic plugging up.  Mostly in the last 6 feet of the run.  My plan is to replace right up to edge of where driveway takes a turn and pipe goes under the added on driveway.  Old owner put all this in, and it did work well for 30+ years.

More digging.  At least it is not as deep, 12 inches maximum and I know exactly where pipe is located.

There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Spent the day at the Ohio State Fair judging 4-H woodworking state level projects.   Only competitions are going on at the fair so it was really different, no midway, no food booths, no display or commercial buildings.  Had a pass to get into the parking area and then no ticket takers, no state patrol, etc.

While there were about the usual number of 4Hers eligible, turnout was low.  I guess people didn't want to take off work, travel 3 or 4 hours, have a 15 or 20 minute evaluation, then travel back home.  In normal times, they'd probably spend the day seeing the fair.

Probably the most elegant project was in the top level division.  It was  a scale model bulldozer, all wood except for a cable to lift the blade and a couple of bolts to provide tension for the track.  The cab was quite detailed with control levers and dashboard.   Must have taken hundreds of hours to do.

The other thing quite common this year was "torched finishes"   Not sho shusi ban (or however you spell it), but just enough to add some odd color.  I could almost always see one or more in the judging area.

County fair in Canfield is planning no holds barred this year.  Now that that pandemic is firing off once more, they may have to cut it off again.

After hours (days) of trimming, we finally worked our way through all the pallet boards yesterday. Today we start slapping them on the bare stud wall. After clipping the ends to get rid of splits and knots, they vary in length from 18" up to 38"+. They are all either 3" or 5" in width. Thicknesses are all over the place. From 3/4" down to around 3/8". We hope to be able to place the thicker ones where we plan on hanging cabinets, clamp hangers, etc.

First task is to get some semblance of order by sorting and stacking them by width and thickness. This will be an interesting looking wall, for sure.

It's gonna be fun!

Customer says ac doesn't work.  Yeah about that.  This is blower motor connector, or what's left.

Let me guess....it's from a Fix Or Repair Daily.  Did the customer also have that tied on with a string?

Yes they did. Glove box is broken and held closed in same manner.
