I am looking at a low speed grinder at Home Depot. It is made by Wen. It is 1750 rpm. Comes with one white 60 grit wheel and one 120 grit white wheel. They are 8 inch wheels with 5/8 shaft so it would be easy to upgrade to CBN wheels later. It cost $105 and has a two year warranty. What do you all think?

I think you will get a lot of good service out of it Rusty.  What are you using now to sharpen your turning tools?

Right now I am using a normal bench grinder with grey course wheels.

Not to poke a hole in your net of wonder, but this didn't receive very good reviews on Amazon.

At least Home Depot will stand behind the product if it fails.

Neighbor bought one.  Similar issues.  I trued the wheel up and it was better but the unit runs a bit warm and is easy to stall on anything more than a feather touch.  

I bought a Rikon. I was able to get it for $130.

That's actually the one I just bought the Wen one for 105 so I'll have to see how well it does when it gets  here.  Unfortunately home depot doesn't have much to offer in the stores so had to order out for it.

I have a Rikon. Love it. Slow speed, white wheels, no vibration, powerful and quiet.

That looks like the one I bought.

I bought the no name from Woodcraft slow speed , before they switched to Rikon . I think it may have been 80 . Never a slight wobble even. Switched the wheels to CBN maybe 3 years ago and it is like heaven by comparison. One pass and the tool is super sharp.

Don't forget to get one of these for your stone wheels.

When I ordered the grinder it said they were slow and it could take up to three weeks. I got it yesterday. Only five days. Going to set it up today.

A whole new meaning for "slow speed grinder".

Got my grinder yesterday. Got it mounted. Might change it later. I have the one way wolverine on order and should have it Monday.

@RustyFN  Looking good.  What grit did you get on your wheels?

It came with 60 and 120. When they wear out I will upgrade to CBN wheels.
