From what I have read most people like 180 grit for final sharpening. I watched a video of Doug Thompson from Thompson tools and he uses less than 120 grit. I am still new to this. Watch the video in Wednesday wisdom for woodturners with Doug Thompson it is very informative.
January 8, 20215 yr You will need more space behind the grinder to setup Wolverine Jig. Not sure but maybe 16 inches behind the grinder.

January 9, 20215 yr To shape and sharpen your turning gouges, you may need something like this. It fit directly under the wheel and it is adjustable to the particular gouge you are going to sharpen or grind. https://www.amazon.com/Oneway-2291-Wolverine-Grinding-Jig/dp/B000CSQONC/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2A25EFQKN3NV2&dchild=1&keywords=gouge+grinding+jig&qid=1610228345&sprefix=gouge+%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-4
