August 12, 20205 yr Hey guys, looking at this last picture you can see where the guy started with an exactly square piece of wood for he kept turning the wood down until he ended up with four flat areas that was was going to use to glue the wood he had cut out for the coats and hats....Also the bottom of the long pole where the 4 legs also needed flat areas for the 4 legs. Then after he measured the right lengths at the top and the bottom of the pole that was still flat he then set about turning the rest of the pole round and even got fancy cutting deeper. You can see 2 of the flat areas in this picture. While I was sanding this thing down I wondered why the flat areas the legs and the upper pieces were sitting on , were much too wide well he made sure he had enough flat area to glue the pieces on even though they were too wide. Also I can tell he didn't have the square piece of wood exactly centered in to his lathe for 2 of the flat areas are some what narrower than the other 2 and that would be because it was off center in the lathe....
