Ok...drawer needed grooves, to hold the drawer bottom in place....set up the Stanley #45 and made the groove in the drawer front..

But, used an older plough plane for the drawer sides..

Except..it has no depth stop....so I get close with this, and finish to depth with the 45...

Drill a hole centered in the dados, flip over, and use the counter sink bit in the brace....glue and screws hold the back in place...

Then cut the plywood bottom to size...and then assemble a drawer....

Clamps are removed from the drawer, test fit into the opening....has a bit of room, in case the front should swell in the Kitchen....at least it won't stick shut.

Ok, errands have been run, supper from a local food truck call Taco Bout....And...I didn't even get the large Burrito.....varnish and a few other items have been picked up..

Where was I...something about a shelf..

1739833971_JuneProjectshelfmountingcleat.JPG.f51d044f462304035681a29a410726c3.JPG

Once this cleat is installed where it is needed...then place the shelf where it needs to go..

1467913571_JuneProjectheightofshelfset.JPG.0338d74de5a4f398235dd00a7392d8da.JPG

Pop bottle to check the height...2 screws through each leg, then add a couple plugs...

Drilled a few sloted holes..

1566721386_JuneProjectslottedhole.JPG.478e0fd71ce8c7574789d038357ebea5.JPG

To attach the top with...along with one dead center in the kicker...Had a lot of counter-bores to plug...

1634154927_JuneProjectplugsinstalled.JPG.3c3a48b08a8e2180c2c62afd279b6bd8.JPG

Then come back, and trim them all flush...

474498668_JuneProjectallplugstrimmed.JPG.3660393b2b6f31124d354bf3b9634d73.JPG

Had to adjust the latch on the door a bit.   Tried out the kicker with the drawer..

1512566066_JuneProjectdrawerkickerinuse.JPG.725829294237c065f87d928487110f83.JPG

This is why there is the kicker...

Then the fun began...cleared off the tablesaw...checked which was the worst of the faces on the top...set it on the tablesaw bad side up...Had screws to install, once I managed to get the case up unto the top...took two people,BTW.

Each cornerblock gets a screw.and the kicker ...

7863126_JuneProjectcenteredhole.JPG.45b9de9be533c728e77d1a62888ffb12.JPG

Once the top was centered to the case.  This puts a screw dead center in the top.

Figured I could leave this mess in place...mixed a new batch of Witch's Brew...and started in...

689730930_JuneProjectfirstcoatundersides.JPG.a5928e384920c99d6f06f62241b0ae89.JPG

Got what I could from this direction...had to rotate it around...wanted to get a coat everywhere..

885790712_JuneProjectwildgrain.JPG.234b5770c43006ba69701fac53a89d3a.JPG

Had some wild grain so up...got the drawer front stained...I don't do the sides nor the insides of drawers...

Had to have 2 people help out...they picked the case up, I slid the saw out of the way...and they set the case down on it's own four feet...

Then I could stain the rest....including the inside of the cabinet...

1741624284_JuneProjectPIP2.JPG.cd1d150999fed77d05a77b74caeb0a7d.JPG

Tops of two shelves, and the top of the case...and any place else I missed...

514664780_JuneProjectPIP1.JPG.9925bad341328272da3a6375160692d7.JPG

Drawer front is coming out a bit lighter than the rest...may try a second coat?

Let this sit a day, or so....then add the clear gloss.    then it might be ready to head upstairs?    And get the casters installed...

Stay tuned...might be done before July gets here...

Wasn't happy about the top, or the drawer front....sanded the top at 150 grit, and wiped it down....then a second coat to both the top and the front of the drawer..

998589265_JuneProject2ndcoatstaintop.JPG.5f457f59ef77e5016f0fd337a0b4c0f4.JPG

Trying to even out the Witch's Brew....before any varnish goes on....

You are a brave man, Steven Newman, for applying the finish with the hardware on:)

It is looking really good.

1st coat of clear gloss is about dry....need to sand at 220 grit, and do a second coat....then rub that out....should be about ready to haul upstairs to the Kitchen....

Beautiful build! Maybe pop the top of off a couple- you deserve it!

Absolutely beautiful job, but please don't retire just yet.  We won't have the entertaining lessons if you quit.  Thank you for the journey.

Another masterpiece, retirement?  Yeah who are you kidding???? :o
