He is screwing with us. :ROFL:Probably already done and has been watching movies having some cold ones last three days. Or raiding the garage sales.

Possibly all of the above.:ChinScratch:

He's a sneaky one.

Hmmm..:BugEyeSmiley:

Had to repair some damage cause by the sub-assembly tipping over....onto the floor....both legs I had installed....snapped loose..:ArguingSmileys:

1221446432_JuneProjectlegrepairwork.JPG.f2116254a2226f1a24b717835b3e0935.JPG

Then have one of the two snap both screws off..:BangingHead:.while moving it to the assembly table.:PullingHair:

(3 hours of screwing in the crowded shop, today..:DevilLaughing:.)

1585465563_JuneProjectlowerwebframe.JPG.2ae4016a77c75c53f039845304734ced.JPG

Got one web frame assembled ( still working out the details on the other..):ChinScratch:

Middle part is to attach the divider to the web frame,  wide ends also support the drawer as it slides in and out...will add guides later...BEFORE the top goes on...:OldManSmiley:

Assembly table?:WonderScratch:  I guess you could call it that..:o

307367523_JuneProjectassemblytable.JPG.124e49a1ebbfa4c8eeb67dde88c42f78.JPG

Divider was attached to the bottom shelf, via glue in the dado, and 3 screws from underneath the shelf...Frame was added....then more repair...:JawDrop:

Where the circles are....snapped screws..:ArguingSmileys:.had to move the original leg to the other end..:BangingHead:.two of the holes do have screws in them.....Used BIGGER screws, this time around.:DevilLaughing:.Bottom shelf gets end caps...

Beautiful work Steve,.....I love your projects man!. This design has an early American feel to it to my eye. I actually think it would be a great roll around shop tool cart  . Like ash as well....I've refinished a few axe handles that were ash...I like the figure in it.

For those that complain about a small workshop...:o

434599269_JuneProjectroomyshop.JPG.676b7fe38cff6f7ff7366aaf2da1c29d.JPG

This is where I spent almost 3 hours, today...imagine trying to crosscut an 8' plank...:BangingHead:

739293836_JuneProjectLONGplank.JPG.7fcc9d694c28e455d563d842b770bf0b.JPG

I used that 6" Skil saw sitting there...there is a "large" assembly area...:DevilLaughing:

1824707763_JuneProjectassemblyarea.JPG.ea8c8208c7829a373fbec16d674e1b54.JPG

Gets a bit cramped, though...

1544070371_JuneProjectabitcramped.JPG.11abfcd3c6795127f8a2d5f6d5985cc6.JPG

2 glue-ups going on here...frame's 1x was notch to fit around the leg, then glued in place...There is a 1x4 glued in-between the legs, and onto the lower webframe end, closes this end off...and

576166633_JuneProjectpartsadded.JPG.bacdcf5b78e9348591fd9df9921a5255.JPG

The end with the door compartment.   I also got the part for the back ..B)

1108433432_Drawerfrontfitted.JPG.f90f44da6e797b069978d9d61eaae2e9.JPG

and the drawer cut to size and fitted in place...will know more once the clamps on the ends come off.   Got 2 out of 4 corner blocks made...

1772804536_JuneProjectcornerblocks.JPG.8cf30779814bd5bfe08c93db123ffc18.JPG

I use these to attach the top to the Island...B)

Like this.  Glue and a couple screws, then a slotted hole drilled....screw and a washer to attach the top.

Last 2 planks hauled to the shop...the other 8' plank was cut into 4 sections..:ChinScratch:

565754014_JuneProject4quarters.JPG.d5df313eb8ef5c1c90ff420f1e2f6a9e.JPG

Edges jointed, and sorted into 2 matching pairs....and glued into panels...

174161174_JuneProjectdoorpanel.JPG.433c3044bc199d884221449d8ec77e03.JPG

Best looking of the two will be the door, the other will be the back of the compartment..:ChinScratch:..the last plank was cut into 3 pieces...a filler strip added..

602910100_JuneProjectendpanel.JPG.d2e11b92a5513d5f548c8fdc0fd37e43.JPG

And this will close off the end of the compartment....once it get squared up...:ChinScratch:

And that was it, for today....:SaluteandRun:

Next Wednesday will be a BORG Lumber Run.....need parts to build the drawer, and add the middle shelf.

Stay tuned.:cowboy:...may have to work on Monday..again:BugEyeSmiley:

Until you brought out the clamps, this was looking like an Ikea kit.  But, then you foiled me with all those clamps.  I hope you didn't loose the instruction sheet.

BTW, great job.  I can hardly wait to see this one completed.

Drywall screws?   Bad choice for furniture.

Worked for Norm...:DevilLaughing:

3 hours of shop time...on a Monday?:JawDrop:

Ok, one panel came out of the clamps, wanted it off the tablesaw, anyway..:BangingHead:.By the time it had been flattened  on one face, both ends squared, and one edge trimmed for width...might as well install it...

443665759_JuneProjectendclosedup.JPG.e66f4ef2836b4e06ff6c0800fd90708e.JPG

Glued to the legs, is all. B) Then since I needed a couple of the clamps on the narrow panels to do this glue up...Squared the ends, ripped for width, but...

45043208_JuneProjectbackpanelrebate.JPG.0873f8bd40b691b1378693db76bde3c9.JPG

It also needed a rebate....as a place to add some glue...:ChinScratch:

991221390_JuneProjectbackpanelinstalled.JPG.ed465c51889ad828f78e40a05d482c51.JPG

As it wraps around the divider. :ChinScratch:

Then some chopping was in order...To attach a kicker between the front rail above the drawer, and the panel for the back...hand tool time!

53354027_JuneProjectkickerdovetailwork.JPG.85df581f9a3562498fd247b51fb3737e.JPG

Both the back panel and the drawer front blank were trimmed for length....Dovetails connect the kicker to the back and the rail...Back was set up in the bench vise,,B)

292900209_JuneProjectkickeranddovetail.JPG.4bf989236006b325f9f0d6a33565381c.JPG

So, when I glue the back in place...I can also install the kicker..

1971880375_JuneProjectbackassembled.JPG.469f3a5eb5cf41dabfb6f4ef0d27660b.JPG

Too many clamps?  :WonderScratch: Kicker details?:ChinScratch:

1774818264_JuneProjectkickerdetails.JPG.6152d2484120fa5015bc7e3c6316c86d.JPG

Drawer slides along under the kicker, keep it from tipping down when you pull the drawer out...

Still not done..:BangingHead:..corner blocks...2 more were made, then all 4 were drilled and counter sunk...:ChinScratch:

1589658870_JuneProjectcornerblocksdrilled.JPG.61a0b61656779f01a7d99cb5914c9d4b.JPG

Brace has the counter-sink bit.  Then glue and screws...:ChinScratch:

370483753_JuneProjectcornerblockinstall.JPG.0e46b28a21d49404ce192bb9f9c139fc.JPG

And work my way around to all 4 corners...:ChinScratch:.

Not a whole lot got done, today....was on Laundry Detail...

That blank for the door:  flattened both faces.   ends trimmed.  Trimmed for width.   Rebate milled...then a test fit...

2015484141_JuneProjectdoorfitted.JPG.47d7102506428a045ef41b19d5e30604.JPG

And...it fits.   I even dug up some hinges...

555543998_JuneProjecthingesandplugs.JPG.b569b60247f26a7579d5a7a12d314097.JPG

And, made 32 plugs...just have to match the grain patterns to the holes...

And that was it, for today...

Where did I get the notion that you were going to take it easy for a couple of days Steven?

Coming along very nicely, and quick!

Well, today's shop time was elsewhere....Trip to Lowes = 1 x 6 x 8' Pine ( back of the drawer, and both sides)  1/4" x 2' x 4' ( bottom of the drawer), 3/4" x 2' x 4'( Middle shelf) and a 3 pack of door hinges.....screendoor on the back door, plastic hinges were getting broke ( imagine that..) so, those got thrown away, and the new METAL hinges were installed to replace them....

Since I wound up with about 1 hour of sleep last night....hinge job was it.  Paid a few bills today...may just take a nap, if no one minds...

Maybe tomorrow, I can get a wee bit done in the shop?

Stay tuned...

Well, I was going to take a few things to the shop, this evening....wound up cutting the drawer sides to size....used the strips I had to rip from the sides as drawer guides..

1238199274_JuneProjectdrawerguideinstalled.JPG.364b08d7c6370316a8f3d45bb1f329c5.JPG

A bead of glue, a couple clamps..done, repeat for the other end...

Then a bit of "Pins First"

2019544341_JuneProjectdrawerpinsfirst.JPG.76b5a0373593a75c0d9950dc7127883e.JPG

Might as well do the other end, while I'm at it..

559442236_JuneProjectdrawerallpins.JPG.e5074c06d17b2cf2854e480754fb5ed7.JPG

Then the tails to match...

229099183_JuneProjecttailsdone.JPG.f0cb674dd9fc092e1cf43957d757eb2d.JPG

Sweep up the mess, turn the fan off, and close up shop, until tomorrow sometime...

Grooves and dados next...

Stay tuned...
