May 17, 20206 yr Do you plan to just use the pressed wood carvings for inspiration then carve your own in real wood? How long have you been collecting those?
May 17, 20206 yr Author Gene this was how I did most all the clocks when I first started in 2016 when the carving hit me...I could lay these out on the 20 x 30 graph paper and trace around them and carve the maple wood for it was thicker and maybe looked better? places like D Lawless Hardware use to have lots of the pressed wood stuff but haven't visited any of those places for a few years now..I can get lots of pictures to use off of Pinterest and put them on Rapid Resizer and only use a small portion of a bunch of stuff to get the areas filled in to suit.. Lots of times I could only get one carving but then have Rapid resizer to flip it to get equally sided clocks.. A person can usually find a way if he looks long enough... I'm building these bodys so I can cut the carvings up and have a flat piece behind the carving to glue all the pieces back together. I have decided its way quicker to carve small pieces than one large side .
