Does anyone know if that is the right size (width, depth, etc.) for general use. I couldn't get any info in a search.

This shows the sizes.  I believe 1/2" is what is needed for the saws.  The 7760-8101 is 3/8".  See page 50 & 51 at this link.

  • I've never used a link belt.  A good quality belt has always run fine for me.  I've seen verdicts both ways.

  • I put a link belt on my Jet TS when I bought the saw, along with balanced pulleys. I've never looked back. The saw runs perfectly smooth with no vibration at all.

  • The bases I sent went to these two saws. I made a custom one for this set up.  Made in America.

Looking at the box @Kevin Beitz posted this is correct he had 7760-8102

Which is probably why this box is almost full, wrong size for our equipment.

Thanks @HandyDan for looking closely and providing that chart.  I will keep looking. But these link belts I have been using from HF have lasted a long time.  Surprisingly so all things considered.

WoW!!!:JawDrop:

I can buy a lot of premium grade standard V-Belts for less than what they want per foot.

I saw that!

I'll stick with the premium grade standard V-Belts.

I get most of them for less than they want per foot of the link-belts.

The reason I like them is for application.  My Twin TS build has drawers on back side where the motors are.  To get the drawer out the motor needs to hang just above.  A regular belt once stretched will not allow this.  But the link belts allow me to shorten belt as needed.  For the moment I am satisfied I have the best bang for my buck using the HF belts.  Lesson learned on not mixing them as they did change over 10 yrs.

Get the belt sized to work.  Remember too. the motor raises some as the blade is raised.

Yeah that was a learning experience.  Took me couple tries to find out too short or too long.

Here is a link to 58' partial roll on Ebay.  If you go through Harbor Freight you will pay $66.00 for two belts.  This add has a Make offer bid option.  Why not try negotiating with them.  $1.00 per foot $58.00.  $1.25 per foot $72.50.    Never know till you try.

I hit the seller up with a note that I was old school and made an offer, feel free to counter offer, I don't mind this taking a minute till we meet in the middle.  We shall see.  Been internet shopping this morning.  Man can I rack up a wish list and spend some dough.

Be nice if I had a way to pay for it all.  :throbbinghead:  Then there is this pesky job thingy, always taking up 5 days a week of my time.  :ChinScratch:

I've made a few purchases lately myself.  Never cared to internet shop until lately.  Sure is a lot safer than hitting the stores these days and can save a few bucks too.  I still hit the local owned stores I usually shop at.  Want to see them make it through this mess.

I have three pawn shops that will call me if something on my list comes in. I will shop online and make a list then just send it to them.  Helps I have done those owners some favors over the years getting stuff fixed for them so it could be sold.  One woman brings me electrical equipment wanting it tested and the cord end replaced, or the entire cord replaced.

Thanks for that info Dan, I couldn't find anything searching the part number. That 1/2" one you linked reads as "metal rivet" and it looks like each link has a rivet in it....hmmmm.

Most of the things on my wish list don't appear often.

Since the virus thing started the prices have gone beyond my means.

Hopefully "Curb Shopping" returns.

Guess I can be happy with my 1000+ feet I got from

factory clean outs. I have 1/4" 1/2" 5/8" and 1" double sided.

I would hate to see what the double sided 1" would cost.

It's a real bugger to snap or unsnap the 1" together.

There is a tool to do just this job. Link belt is real handy

when you have a tool that needs dissembled to put a belt on.

Don't ever try to use this stuff if your machine has back idlers

on it. It works great with front idlers. Link belt is not a high

grip belt.

Maybe you and Gunny can go in together on it.

Well, to be honest my thought was to buy it and give gunny what he needs. The metal rivets have me worried. Nit sure what their purpose is and whether they would be a problem when adjusting the length of the belt...or maybe even needed to pin the links.

The rivets are a part of each link, and hold the belt together.

John

The belts with the rivets is the best kind. The rivets act like

a button and button hole. See it at around 6:35

The rivets is what got me, kinda worried about will that cause an issue.  Do appreciate the thought on buying it!
