But, I haven't done a lot of furniture so it will be something to learn as others weigh in. Not to change the topic Steve, but what sort of plans are being made/implemented in Australia for this corona virus? Since you are now heading into fall, what are y'all expecting? Thanks Cal, I haven't built much furniture either, and each piece has been different, so I've been learning new skills on each one. Australia and CV-19. Well, review on current lockdown is due around early May, with the possibility of a limited amount of things being allowed to open, test it out, and then review based no a couple of weeks' data. That's my understanding. Of course, with Flu season about to start, things will get rather rocky I suspect. I'm in no hurry to relax restrictions early like some are pulling for. I think it will just see another big wave. Of course, compared to the US, Aus is a small country (25 million), so the numbers should never be as high, but they could still rocket up if they are not smart about this.

Barring either a treatment or a vaccine in short order y'all should be giving us some insight as to what we might expect this fall for the U.S. Please take care of yourself, we enjoy your company here

I'm supposed to be getting my flu vaccination tomorrow, so hoping that will help rule flu out for me at least. Having said that, my wife and I had a chest infection (suspected CV-19 but 2 tests came back negative) for over a month, and I'm still getting rid of the dregs. The health nurse at work recommended still getting my jab just as an extra precautionary measure.

I try to tell my patients they always need the flu shot, even if they miss making it for what hits that year you are protected from other types. Yes there are more than one type of flu in a season possible. Always get the shot unless sick and running fever
April 27, 20206 yr Popular Post I haven't had a flu shot since 1971 just before getting out of the U. S. Navy. Although, most of my civil service supervisors harassed me to get one, I never did. I have had the flue once since then. Maybe, I am the spreader. This year when we heard about this Covid 19 before Christmas, my wife and I went to Walgreen's and learned that there is a different flu vaccine for seniors. That was news to us. Anyway, they didn't have it so we simply followed a lifelong tradition - no shot. We are thankful that so far we are doing well. We spend much time out doors in the fresh air and sunlight. We also keep the doors open in the day time. I do wear a washable mask to the store when I go and I feel sneaky with that thing on. And, folks have a very difficult time hearing me, too. Have a great week everyone.

April 27, 20206 yr Popular Post Here are the "floor bars" that I made for my grand-daughter and 3 of her gym-buds. This is to practice part of what they do on the parallel bars -- handstands and turns. Obviously, they can't swing around them (but then they don't have 16' ceilings, either)

It has a flat on one side that goes down on the 2x4 base. Secured with a 4" carriage bolt. What I did not know is 3/8"x18 zinc coated nuts do not fit 3/8"x18 galvanized carriage bolts. My daughter bought the bolts and they either mis-filled the order or she didn't know or realize they were galvanized. BTW, she did curbside pickup for items at both Lowe's and Menards for her husband to pick up on his way home from work. Menards was fast and ready to go. Lowe's had 30 minute wait and misfilled the order on some other items. We drove past a Lowe's yesterday morning and the parking lot was packed. What are all those people doing at Lowe's???

Then wondered who died and put me in charge? Further pondering I considered do I want to be the guy that is in charge sometimes? Next thing you know it was 1600. Well maybe I should send a text message? Wait, do I have his number? Nope. Glancing at my toolbox door I saw the Serenity prayer. Yup maybe this qualifies as the wisdom to know the difference moment. By now it is 1900, I am home. Put the phone on my dresser and went to the shop. Paralysis by analysis.
April 28, 20206 yr Popular Post As the saying goes...."Doing as little as I can get away with....even less, IF they let me" Boss wanted 20 landscape pavers set at the patio's gazebo....I got 15 pavers laid....She forgot the bags of sand, to spread out between them, too. I did buy a NEW pair of jeans, today.........as a couple older pairs were getting rather "Holey"...Bad enough I have "Northern Exposure" on the top of me head...don't need any Southern Exposure.. Spent what little shop time I got, cutting 80-20 bar stock to lengths me son needed for his projects....I did put away a few of my toys...er...tools, today.. Monday...about says it all
April 28, 20206 yr Popular Post Lets see...new pencils? Check. 0.5mm ones. Something to sharpen the older pencils... Check. takes 2 aa batteries,,,works as soon as a pencil is inserted.... Results? Might be sharp enough? May have to start a thread on sharpening pencils? Oh, and BTW, since it is now Tuesday.... Plywood cut to size. Case, including the saw holders in correctly, has been glued up....added 2 more clamps after this photo was taken...can never have too many clamps, right? Will install the plywood back later today.... Stay tuned ( cussing was almost as loud as the tablesaw, and the circular saw...)

April 28, 20206 yr My wife bought an electric pencil sharpener a few years ago. I hate it. I'm still using the pencil sharpener that I bought in 1970. Still works great. It has a suction cup base. I used to put it down in the fall, then took it back up in the spring when I went home for the summer.
