I've got a few 151 horror stories all the way back to high school off campus lunch time, 151 can do a lot of damage within a half hour lunch.

That would be Southern Comfort for me, drank my self sick one night at least 40 years ago.

To this day that stuff is like a rubber ball.

I'll stick with my Ukrainian Vodka.

Can't join you folks with those beautiful bottles.  As for me, I'll pass out so I won't pass out from the vapors.  :D

Just a quicky on the prednisone, when you think about starting, please talk with your doctor.  Please don't stop it all at once.  That is dangerous.  Either your doctor or nurse will give you directions on how to taper off.  It's a long story of how I know.

Well, a couple weeks ago, we cut down a couple of Bradford pear trees at church that the roots were breaking up the curb and getting under the cheap pavement.  I took one tree and gave the other to a turner at the local turning club.  He was recently retired from the U. S. Air Force.  He had never turned pear so he was going to take some to the turning club to share and play with.  I cut my tree into 20 inch sections, covered them with Anchor Seal and I noticed that one was cracking in the pith.  So, got out the hatchet, removed the bark, got out the recip saw and sawed off one side right up to the pith so it would fit under my 6" limit on the Shopsmith bandsaw.  Had to do a little chisel work to get it to pass by the upper guard on the saw.  But, it is all sawn into 2" X 2".  Going to put another coat of Anchor Seal on the ends tomorrow.  It is bleeding rather profusely.  The pith went into the fire pit.  By fall it may be dry enough to burn.

I am happy to be home because I get so much done.  Back yard has been mowed twice, the fence around the back yard is cleaned, digging up a garden space for the grandson to plant some veggies, so as long as we have water, we'll find something to eat.  Saving money not buying at the restaurants.  And, the price of gasoline is down.  May have to take a long drive just to exercise the drive trainy.  :throbbinghead:Need some summer air in the tires first.

She's now on a couple of meds including the boss's @John Morris favorite.. Prednisone. This isn't going to be fun.

I hate that stuff. My blood levels have stabilized and over the last month and a half, my oncol/hemo has been weening me off the preds very slowly, incredibly slowly because of the "whip saw" effect my platelets were on, one week very high, the next week low to none. We finally stabilized somewhat about around the beginning of January, and the weening began. For months I was on 100 mg's to 50 mg's, very high dosage, my head felt like it was bout to burst all the time, and my eyeballs felt and looked like they were being forced out of my skull.

As a result of the high dosages and being on the preds for 9 months now, I have moon face (rounded face) and I have gained weight, but the prednisone hump on the back of the neck never came for me. I have however gained very blurry vision from the preds and have digestive issues too from it all.

This week, is the very first week I an taking no preds, nada. But I am still on my weekly injections, which the side effects are minimal compared to the preds. When I get my injection every Friday, I feel a tad rough, my bones ache, and feel swollen, but that subsides by the next day. Hopefully we can get me off the injections too.

So, Larry, you and the Mrs's probably already know this, but if you are taking prednisone, the immune system takes a hit. While I was on high dose Preds, I had no immune system, if I was on high dose today, with this danged virus going around, I'd be living in a bubble, cuz I'd be a likely candidate for not coming back from the virus if it hit me. My doc had/has me on synthetic antibodies to step in for my lack of an immune system, if she's not taking something to help boost her immune system, you may want to consult your doc and find out if she should be.

Sorry to hear she back on that stupid stuff Larry.

EDIT, just read your reply to Steven, yes you and Mrs. Buskirk have been through this before, you know all I just told ya I am sure. :)

John, thank you for a great report.  We will be praying that you continue to recover and not get exposed to the trash in the air.  Yes, prednisone attacks the immune system.  It can be very dangerous and can also be painful stopping cold turkey.  I am thankful that the doctors have been able to help you get this far and I hope it continues as we really need you here, John.
