Still waiting on winning lotto ticket, or a dead relative to leave me some $$$$ I will give you a tip on how i wound up with 28 planes. Watch flea markets and garage sales. Yes I have 2 Lee Valley I bought new and a Stanley bull nose and pocket plane. The rest from the 2 #3 up to the #8 and 2 78 were antique carousing .

Power tools are nice but time an again knowing how to use a handplane and having one would have been helpful. Now that I have been shown how to use them and not aggravate the pins in my wrist I have been using them when called for. The block plane I won at Christmas got sharpened and used on my cabinet door project, makes a nice chamfer.. A Craftsman my Father gave me I sharpened and practiced on some turning blanks. Got a decent feel for right and wrong way. Bought a spokeshave (cheap one) and used it for the handles on two wooden screwdrivers. That was an experience.
