Had the opportunity to sub in a vocational area I usually don't get to see. Worked in the HVAC classroom. Really nice bunch of kids. Well mannered and respectful. Says a lot about their regular instructor- who is a graduate from that same shop a few years back.

Our Patriot Turners-

Our own @Steve Krumanaker is turning into quite the Cecil B Demille. Steve posted two great videos this past week. One showing Bedan work and the other showing us how to used the Bedan in making a "honey dipper". Awesome work Steve and Thanks!!

@Gerald gave us some insight on finding the center of a turning and why the center might not be the center!

For The Newbies-

Over the past several weeks we have been mentioning cutting threads in a turning. The examples we listed all used special tools and techniques to accomplish the task. Capt. Eddie posted a video showing another way to have a threaded project. As always, Capt. Eddie packs a lot of great information into his videos-

Expand Your Horizons-

Tim Yoder added a two part video on turning a ball (sphere). Tim says he cheated a little by using a jig from Carter-

The second part of the video is linked from Tim's YouTube Channel.

If you would like to turn spheres but would rather make your own jigs, here is a link to Mr. David Reed Smith's "Shadow Sphere Jig"-

I used this jig to turn some globe Christmas tree ornaments for the Easy Wood Tools Christmas tree.

New Turning Items-

Another nice roundup, thank you Lew!

Steve

Another good one Lew. Steve nice video, I do my honey dippers with skew and parting tool. Tried to do the whole thing with skew just did not like the looks of it.

Okay I just got the new bandsaw humming.  Next up is finishing a 12 volt power supply then on to the lathe!!

Thanks Lew.  Nice videos Steve.  My Bedan tool doesn't get the recognition it deserves.  Thanks for the reminder.  My center finder tool is tops in my book.  Gerald sure reminded us what it does for us.

Thanks Lew!
