  1. Hard to believe that on Friday we will have put 2020 behind us. Let's hope 2021 will see the end of the pandemic! Our Patriot Turners- @PostalTom finished up his Christmas stocking tree. It turned out fantastic and can be seen in his update to a previous post- @RustyFN has a laser and he has combined it with his CNC machine to design some emblems to finish off his turned bowls. Check out his post to read more about what he is doing and the comments from our members. @HandyDan gave us a Christmas eve peek at some of the orna
  2. Well I was half way thru this week's Wednesday's... and everything just disappeared Hope my computer doesn't have the Corona Beer Virus. Our Patriot Turners- @Gerald showed us a beautiful embellished plate he is making. In his post, Gerald explains the process and techniques he used- @Larry Schweitzer posted a picture of a shop made tailstock he made from scratch! His work is awesome! In his post, he describes in more detail just why and how this new piece came into existence- @Ro

I got to thinking I might be able to use the threaded part of the containers and the lids to make turned boxes with threaded lids. Well, it turns out I can. Here is some of the containers. I take a knife and roughly cut the lid and threads from the container. I always cut them with a down stroke with the knife for safety. It is one of those operations where one slip can mean disaster. After that I take a pair of tin snips and remove as much excess as possible to save time at the lathe. I m
  4. Just looking out of the window at the beautiful sunset. Days are getting shorter and the leaves are beginning to show signs of fading. Our Patriot Turners- @Ron Altier glued up some pieces of colored plywood and turned a couple of sweet looking ornaments- Check out his post to see how a simple rearrangement of the pieces creates completely different designs- @Gerald turned some beautiful crosses for a ladies group at his church- Gerald tells us about the group and his turnings in his post- Gerald also
  5. Had the opportunity to sub in a vocational area I usually don't get to see. Worked in the HVAC classroom. Really nice bunch of kids. Well mannered and respectful. Says a lot about their regular instructor- who is a graduate from that same shop a few years back. Our Patriot Turners- Our own @Steve Krumanaker is turning into quite the Cecil B Demille. Steve posted two great videos this past week. One showing Bedan work and the other showing us how to used the Bedan in making a "honey dipper". Awesome work Steve and Thanks!!
