February 15, 20197 yr Popular Post Hope you all had a great Valentine day yesterday. Today im in the shop with my son and we have finally moved the kitchen island to our finishing room. It’s getting a clear finish and I’m loving the grain of the Red Elm. We are to get two months of rain in the next few days so I’m hoping we can get it delivered before the rain starts. I received several books on Shaker Oval Boxes and a book on Hand Made Tools from John Wilson of Shaker Oval Boxes fame, I am digging into those books with a hot cup of coffee and a rainy weekend by the fireplace. Also son has a High-school Baseball game this Saturday, he's a freshman 9th grader and he made it to JV! He is so proud. So, weather permitting we get to see his team play against a rival school. I'll also be organizing our garage some more, since my aunt passed away a few months ago, our garage/my shop, has been full of her things and we are trying to get it all sorted out and shipped off to the proper recipients. Today we are shipping three big boxes to the Napa Valley Historical Society, she has roots in Napa, and she has boxes full of images and documents dating back to the mid 1800's that the society is very interested in, her grandpa Charles Hugo Farman was a Swedish Immigrant who settled in Napa and started up a successful dentist office, the name Farman was a pretty big name in Napa back in the day, with a big house on the hill and all, so they really would love to have her historical memorabilia. Interesting times these days! Hope all our Patriots have a wonderful weekend ahead, and stay safe in your shops!
February 15, 20197 yr Popular Post The finger got poked this morning, count is 2.3. Have bills to pay off, and a van to have the brakes fixed....E-brake sticking, again....new caliper. Might get a little more done on Chester Drawers this weekend....viewing it as a form of Physical Therapy..... We'll see how the weekend goes.

If I can get Supervisor Shadow to leave me alone long enough, I might actually get a couple of things turned today. However, that remains to be seen. 😂 You see, The Supervisor has a very bad habit of pestering me every time I start trying to get things done. It’s been a while since I have turned anything, so I think I’ll start with getting into practice again 😊. Have a great and safe weekend everyone!

February 15, 20197 yr Errand day today (hauling water), painting a new screen door tomorrow (already have the primer on, 2 finish coats tomorrow) for the laundry room. Valentine's day present for my wife. after we get that one fit up, we'll work on other doors she wants screens on, of course, this is a single door (easy), all the others are double (ugh). i think 3 double doors are on tap. so this will take a few weeks to get done.
February 15, 20197 yr Normal weekend stuff. Expect to be held weather hostage (still) with snow again Sunday. Shop remains closed due to frozen steel & wood. Tonight, oldest grandson has a Cub Scout "rank" advancement banquet. Usually a good pitch-in meal. Heard there was some kind of car race somewhere in Florida Sunday PM...might try to catch a few laps of that before the "big one hits."
February 15, 20197 yr Popular Post Going to do something with my brother. He has been sitting around the house since they screwed his arm back together where he broke it. Friend of mine says she needs some shop scraps. She uses them as kindling to start the fire in her fireplace. Shop time if I can get there.
February 15, 20197 yr Well down,.....Me Too!!! Weather not forecast to get above freezing until Thursday. I'm too pooped from snow blowing/shoveling to deal with it anyways. More snow forecast for late Saturday, through Sunday. I'll have to pull about 100' of pipes back up the well casing to find out if it's a cracked pipe, or bad check valve.

The last few days have been pretty good to me. It has taken me four years to get a good pic of the Baltimore Oriole that has been a winter feeder here. As far as I know, just this one, and he hangs out for the whole winter. Yesterday I got a good one minute video, but it is in a format (.mov) that will not post up. Anyhow, after four years I now have this to show: In other birdwatching news... I have been working to get the Firebird's temperature gauge to read accurately. We have tried about 6 different temp sending units and they have all read consistently either approx. 30-40* high or 30-40* low. We've tried cheap ones, we've tried expensive ones - but none of them gave an accurate reading. After spending about 30 minutes talking with tech support at the expensive model's company the suggestion was made to use the cheap unit - with a high reading - and add a resistor in line to the sending unit. The guess was finding the correct amount of resistance to add in. I found an online source for a 0-50 Ohm potentiometer and for $10 now have a good accurate reading on the gauge. And, to make it woodworking related, I packaged it all up in a Kreg pockethole screw box and have it tucked up inside the dash... Ending result says that I added a bit over 5 Ohms resistance. I took the 'bird out for a good run, adjusting the temp reading and making some minor carb adjustments. It is running likely as good as it has ever run. And it sure is fun to drive around on a nice day. I think the son will be pretty happy when he gets it back!

February 16, 20197 yr Cal, is the Firebird a 68 or a 69? I had a 67’ - 326 cu in 4 speed and I loved that car.

Worth the wait...you got a great picture...very cool. I've had a couple stop over the past two springs for a few days. My wife & daughter bought me a feeder for my birthday. I always liked the "Birds" over the Camaro. The white interior takes me back to my '67 GTO.
