I love it when a plane comes together Even better when four of them do. You are just plane amazing with all of these.

  • I only got one done this morning, I had appointments this afternoon. Here is the picture of this one, first coat of shellac, to seal and see if there are any scratches I have to sand off. Herb

They were the cut outs for the tissue boxes I made awhile back, I just use them for stand offs when spraying shellac.

I think someone said it is leopard wood, the inside block is IPE, and the racing stripe is yeller heart.

How long to the soles of the plane last before  you need to level them again?

I suppose the different woods last longer than others. The one I made 8 years ago is Tiger wood and does not show any wear, and it has had light-moderate use.

Hello Herb

I agree with you that it looks like Leopardwood Never heard of it before. That explains the growling I sometimes hear in the shop. Now I have to go out in the shop and put it in a cage! :ChinScratch:

They are very similar, only I think the Leopard wood seems darker.

Before I looked that up, I didn't know what a Travisher is. I will have to think about that one for awhile.

in some areas they're called saddling tools and used for the final on chair saddles... (and other concave parts of the chairs)
