January 13, 20197 yr Popular Post Nicely done Artie, I'll give you an "A" for the project. Well done.
January 14, 20197 yr Artie, as others have so well said, you did an excellent job. And, I really love what you did with the splines in the corners. Excellent job!
January 14, 20197 yr Popular Post This picture.. get yourself a ZC plate.. lower the toe of the miter to the table.. lower the guides to the table and let then serve as sacrificials to control tear out and splintering... no sense asking for a blow or tear out... make the steadies adjustable to comp for rectangles, rounds, ovals, squares and polygons to maintain the center axis of what you are slotting... make lower hold down a pivot in the steady.. cut a slot in the steady for the upper hold down.. Parallel T track set into a slot in the face is a great fix for that.. use T bolts and lock down knobs.. you do real that the center axis of the door is a skosh off... January 14, 20197 yr You should ought to be happy with it Artie, it turned out super. I have to agree with Gerald, nobody comes out of the gate inexperienced and does this kind of work! btw - do you need the little plastic bumper to hold the knob edge proud of the face frame? You can get them at Hobby Lobby back in the picture frame dept. Edited January 14, 20197 yr by Cal

January 14, 20197 yr Author Popular Post I am thanking all of you for your kind words. I also just noticed that I have graduated (?) to Joiner status.
January 14, 20197 yr Author Now I don’t know if this thread is through, or if anyone is still gonna follow it, but I have another question I would like all the advice I can get. I want to make a couple of simple Crosses. 3/4 cherry, take 3/8 off back of front piece, and 3/8 of an inch off the front of the back piece. Mate them up, and glue them. I hope this description accurately portrays what I’m thinking of. My question is, will wood movement make doing this a bad idea? Thank you for any advice, thoughts, comments.

January 15, 20197 yr Popular Post Re: wood movement. No problems foreseen but, you can cross that bridge later.
January 15, 20197 yr That is a simple half lap joint Artie. It is what I used in my little corner table top. You should have no problems, unless the cross is quite large...
