I continue to work on a variety of projects, but for Friday & this weekend...

I spent yesterday here and there.  Celebrated Grandpadave's birthday - or actually my brother-in-law's by taking him to lunch.  He wanted to hit up a Chinese buffet, so that's what we did.  Spent a good hour and a half there:JawDrop:

Last night I made an out of the ordinary (for me) night drive up to Macon.  The wife & I went to supper at a new (to us) brew pub and then went to a concert by Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics.  An Atlanta band that put on a great show.  That girl Ruby has a voice that is just beautiful.  Check them out on Pandora or Spotify or something:TwoThumbsUp:

Supposed to be a cold, rainy weekend.  My plan is to turn the heat on in the shop and work on the son's Pontiac.  I visited the transmission at the tranny hospital the other day and it needs a pretty much complete rebuild:(  Wish I had done it 10 years ago when we restored the car...  Anyhow, I could see that the pilot bearing should be replaced, so that is the weekend project - pull the clutch and inspect everything from the flywheel back and machine/replace any questionable parts.  Tear down today, rebuild tomorrow - unless the flywheel needs attention.

My Christmas shopping is done, I think.  I do have a sign I want to make.  And I guess I do have a couple Yeti style mugs my wife wants me to etch for gifts.  Some computer design time will be required...

No wood working until it heats up a BUNCH!!! Shops right at 10* now and just can't get it warm. So for now, we'll keep busy with our Santa and Mrs. Claus visits.

  • erm, but i DO need a couple of new tools to fix them...

we adopt a local family for Christmas.  Since my daughter and daughter-in-law both teach we get a family that is truly needy.  The grandkids really look forward to the day shopping for toys.  Probably doesn’t hurt that Nana and Pappy pick up the tab either.

What a wonderful thing to do, I'm loving it. I need to talk to our extended family about such a event.

can we run a poll on that...

John, thanks again for a great Fri topic!

Can you tell us the dimensions of those corn hole boards? I have a neighbor who wants a set for an upcoming wedding party. I volunteered to make the set for her. Thanks John!

December 7th a day that will live in infamy. A special day to remember. A day to stop, reflect, self-inspect and support those of the “Greatest Generation” that answered the call.

May we never forget that they didn’t hesitate but gave their all to make this the Greatest Nation on this earth.

Thanks John for reminding us to reflect and give thanks. A sleeping giant was woken that day. May that giant forever remain vigil.

Oldest grand-daughter told me only one of her teachers mentioned or talked about the Pearl Harbor attack during school yesterday...very sad...

Sadly, I saw nothing mentioned on any of the news I watched yesterday nor did any of my news feeds include a tick on the anniversary.

...and sadly we just lost the oldest living survivor of that day. I weep for our nation and wonder if we would survive another event like this.

I also read about the recent loss.

I was only 7 months and 3 days old on 12/7/41.

I was -11 y/o to the day and almost the exact hour. My dad was 9 y/o but remember him talking about listening to the news reports on the radio. My step-dad was almost 15 and would end up in Germany early in 1945 for the next year-and-a-half. I remember my uncle talking about being in and surviving the Battle of the Bulge.

On the drive to swim practice yesterday morning, the girls got their annual history lesson reminder about the day. After cake last night, we again had a discussion about the significance of that tragic day.

Girls already at swim this AM; boys headed with their mom & grandma in a bit to have breakfast with Santa at the local Volunteer Fire Department.

Rumor on the street this AM, a Christmas tree will be sprouting its metal roots in the living room this weekend. Appears I'm in the minority non-ruling party it should wait another week.

Garage remains quarantined mainly due to single digit temperatures.

In between Projects for a while,

I was kinda wondering how long in real time "in between" was for you, and from the looks of it that's about an hour.:WonderScratch:

We need to see some test drive pictures.  From the yellow thingie to be specific.  Don't need test results on the single malt I have a masters degree in that.

Well, @Grandpadave52 can chime in here if I am off base...

On the surface his statement might be construed to be one of those verbal puzzles that are fun to try and figure out, like I leave my house and travel to Phenix City Alabama - a distance of 75 miles, I leave at 1:00 PM, drive an average of 75 mph and arrive at 1:00 PM - how did I do that...:WonderScratch:

And then I thought maybe he just made a mistake, that he wasn't 11 years old when it happened but rather he was born 11 years later, to the day and almost exact hour.  And maybe he just wanted to see who was actually reading the post?:P

You know, old age will creep up on ya and make you do strange things there Dave:OldManSmiley:

Shucks, old age has only enhanced it...I've been doing strange things since 1941+11.;) Irrational behavior keeps everyone on their "toes.":DevilLaughing:
