October 29, 20187 yr Popular Post "To all: Prepare for your test on Friday." Hope it's not a urine test! I've got NO spare time to study. This may be a little late, but I have been busy these past two weeks, mostly doing repair work at the garden center. As some of you know, my son has been battling stage 4 colon cancer for the past eight months. On the 15th of this month, (his 44th birthday), he had an appointment with his oncologist to discuss his latest CAT-scans and other tests. It seems that the 28 "spots" in his lungs are mostly gone, with only a few showing up as "shadows". As for the 9cm. (2 1/2") tumor in his colon, it didn't show up at all in the scan! In a couple of months they'll send a hampster in there with a camera to see if they can find any trace of it. His blood work showed that his "cancer cell marker" count, which had been 39.1 eight months ago, and 4.9 about two months ago, was now down to about 2! A "normal" reading on a healthy person would run between 0 and 4!! The best birthday present EVER!!! Needless to say, the LOML and I are THRILLED! I thank you all for your well-wishes and prayers. October 29, 20187 yr Popular Post @HARO50 Glad to hear the good news about your son. I've been through that "C" word with the wife twice (Cervical, and Breast) She's been "clean" for 18 years now. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions I wouldn't wish on anyone.
October 29, 20187 yr Haro I am so so glad to hear this! I am so happy for your son, you, and the whole family!
October 29, 20187 yr That's wonderful news John. Happy for the family, especially for your son. Edited October 29, 20187 yr by It Was Al B

October 30, 20187 yr Saturday was Restore. Sunday was running around to stores with my one neighbor. Today was blowing leaves off my drive and both my neighbors drives. Tomorrow is more Restore. Somebody dropped off about 20 hammers so it could be interesting. I did that burnt pine thing about 50 years ago. Guess it's coming back. Glad to hear the good news John. I was looking over the PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) packet the other night for an answer to which it is. That stuff goes into detail on most every piece of the car but when it comes to the tranny it specs out everything except which model it was. I guess I will have to tear it down to determine which parts to get. I cannot truthfully say that I never missed any shifts with it Seemed like it was always at a "bad" time to miss 'em too... I have since learned that it might not have been all my fault! For real! The shifter mechanism is anchored to the transmission crossmember. So, at the most inopportune time, the transmission has some movement while the shift mech. not so much. Apparently it was a common enough problem that later years the shifter was bolted directly to the transmission. Not familiar with a Muncie T-10. Are you sure this was a Muncie model?

Well I thought I was sure, but guess that's what 50+ years of sniffing exhaust fumes does to you...my bad...Borg-Warner made the T-10 and Super T-10...similar in design to the Muncie M20,21,22. Maybe that's why I always had trouble with that 2>3 PS ?

October 30, 20187 yr Had the Turning club over for open shop Saturday and yesterday and today working on a Sorby lathe (yes they did make a lathe) that was given to the club to clean it up and set up wheels so can move it in and out of storage. Fun drilling all these holes in steel legs. Pictures at 10?

The resulting wood displays a cathedral pattern on the face of the board.">PS? @John Morris...I have no idea where this (Bold) came from or how it ended up in this post. It definitely was not there originally when the rely was submitted. I'm not smart enough to describe something like that. My response sentence ended with shift.

It's our auto linking feature kicking in for our Wiki, it conflicts with our acronym feature . I just turned off the auto link feature, and it looks good now.
November 1, 20187 yr I'm not equipped for metal working. I have hack saws, a die grinder and a 4 1/2" right angle grinder. No welder. I don't even have any soldering equipment. We installed a gate opening system that requires a key code for security. Since, the only reason for a gate is to keep out the free range cattle, security is not paramount. So, we needed a sign to tell visitors what code to punch in. Thankfully, cows can't read. Thought about routing a sign in wood but, UV here is brutal and, I don't want to be replacing it every few years. So, metal it is. Bought a small sheet of steel, about a 32nd thick and, because of our ferocious winds, a 3/4X1/8 steel bar for reinforcement. Drew cut lines on the sheet and used the angle grinder with a De walt cutting disc to cut it out. Also, cut the bar to length. Those De walt discs are exceptional. Used two part, squeeze out epoxy to attach the bars to the sheet. Drilled holes for U bolts to attach it all to the key pad post. I do have some twist bits for metal. Just need to paint it and it's done. I sincerely hope this is my last metal working job. Wood is so much easier.
