Wood Carving Forum (Resolved)

With @IrishWoodCarver, @Steve Krumanaker, our new member @pdexter plus the works that @Dale Felice,  @Smallpatch and others I'm probably forgetting are doing could we consider adding a Woodcarving Forum? It would be great to have a place specifically to showcase & share their work?

Doing so might entice others who share these talents to join TPW or perhaps already here but not sharing.

Dave, I couldn't agree more.  When I found this site, I thought woodcarving would be a subject topic.  There are many out in the world that are carving.

Bump-_-

I have received PM's lately asking for a carving forum, seems the popularity is growing. Can we get a count of current carvers we currently have? Please report in, and if you know of a carver, ask them to report in here as well.

Thanks for the great suggestion!

Count me in.

Just a thought. The wood turning club I belong to is N.E.I.T.C. or Northeast Indiana Chiselers and Turners. The "chiselers" being wood carvers. It's not uncommon for the two art forms to be combined. I have no idea what's involved to create a new forum or the expense as far as storage or dollars but maybe it would be more effective to rename the turners forum into turners and carvers or something similar.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

In many carving groups I'm in, we have carvers that chainsaw carve. However many carve by dremel, arbor tech, die grinders, angle grinders and so on. Yes it's good to expand. All aspects requiring some sort of blade and or attachment is considered carving. I actually use chisels to carve eyes and detail if the customer requests detail. A combination of equipment in most forums is ok to do. I'd see no problem with it. The only thing I'm completely against is a cnc for chainsaw carving work. Cnc is ok for other  work, but too many guys are doing" production " work and to many of us carvers, it kills the art form. No 2 pieces of art should be exact, but unfortunately the fun is being taken out as well as some degree of talent. A carving forum would be cool.

Wonderful! Thanks a bunch.

Folks, this will happen, sorry for the delay!!!:)

No problem...you've got a lot of plates spinning right now...

I'm excited though and I don't actually carve but enjoy the fruits & learning from those that do.

No worries...I'll just chip away...and take some time to sharpen my mind as well as my knives.

As my dad used to say, 'take your time and get it right'. :D

Dear folks, our new Wood Carving Forum is live, thank you to all who suggested this and supported this addition to our forums.

Thanks John for doing so. greatly appreciated. We'll all be rewarded from the talent and projects to be posted there.

Next request up will be moving the current and former threads to that forum.

We all can help by requesting moves as we find them understanding maybe not all will be find and it can't happen immediately when requested.

Again, THANKS...the best site on the inter-web just keeps getting better & better!
