Did I Tell You I Hate Grizzly?

Featured Replies

I have had three Grizzly tools and have had problems with all of them.

Yesterday, I was trying to lower the table on the drill press and the crank handle slipped.   No problem, it's held in by a set screw.   A metric one, of course because they apparently got a deal on them somewhere.   Found the right hex wrench and just started to turn it.  Pop.  Case broke.   Well, it's a plastic lever surrounding a steel (non-metric 1/2" diameter) collar.   OK, maybe the steel collar will hold it.  Set screw moves in and out just fine, but not when the collar is on the shaft.  Apparently, it's stripped inside.   I am not going to call Grizzly and get a $14 part and $18 shipping.   I may try to re-thread an SAE set screw, failing that, Friday visit to the repair shop to find a part from another vendor.

I will never buy another, even used, Grizzly.

Not sure it's at the same place but the crank on my Bridgewood drill press broke. Some JB Weld fixed it- so far.

Sorry to hear about your Grizzly problem, have read numerous complaints just like yours recently.

Keith, I found that most power tools now have a mix of SAE and metric I have sets of both now thanks to HF they aren't too expensive. Also found that Lowes, Ace, HD and the local screw store supply metric screws and bolts. Also have a set of metric taps and dies too, they come in handy once in awhile.

Hmmmm. Never had that happen on my HF drill press. Nor, on either of my Shopsmiths.

Keith, one possibility, there may be two set screws top one locks the bottom in place.

They just have no respect, Gramps! They love to rub it in, don't they?

Let's see how they would like going from a 500 sq/ft dedicated shop to 50 sq/ft in the corner of a garage. I sure do miss my; full size table saw w/outfeed table, band saw, dust collection, assembly table and workbench, dedicated tool storage, material storage rack(s)...

Ah, NO!

They're too GOOD for the likes of us. We're just peons in their eyes. My revenge is coming, I'm patient, AND I have a long memory...sooner or later I'll get my shop back. Just a series of unfortunate circumstances; job ended, marriage ended, and my mother's health went south.

My ex did everything she could to drain my woodworking budget. I finally told her that it was obvious I'd finally get a completed shop when "Pigs fly". So, for now I'm patient, when my mother is gone, so am I (from Florida). I'll move and  build my shop where I want to live, and on the roof will be a weather vane of a flying pig. My ex (if her bad heart holds out) will get some nice pictures of my shop and a close up picture of a flying pig on the roof...she'll get the message from just the photos.

:DSNORK!! SNORK!!:D

Stop it! Stop it...I beg of you to stop now...It's obvious you do not realize the pain hot coffee rapidly discharging from nasal cavities can inflict late in the afternoon.:o
