Love the Image of the Week! That's how I remember shop class. Especially enjoy seeing the "cordless" miter saws.;)

Well John, since you asked, it was the Weekend from H3!!

Keeping alive the 2018 theme of a catastrophe every weekend...starting with the "rolling stone" Friday...then the furnace/boiler quit again SA. Changed the gas valve as that was the suspected culprit a month ago...nadda...appears the Fan Center (combo Honeywell transformer/relay) has failed...no low voltage to t-stat or gas valve. All efforts to locate one locally on the weekend were null. A whole list of #'s to start calling this AM...Last resort, easy to find on-line just won't get before Wednesday at the earliest.

While taking the girls to catch bus for swim sectionals, new alternator on truck went berserk pegging the voltmeter...came back home, shut it off, voltmeter would not "zero"... finally disconnected both battery cables, connected cables together for 30 seconds, reconnected, everything returned to normal. Yesterday, trip to KOA for LP Tank refill, worked as should; restarted only could attain about 13V (just above battery voltage); shut off, restarted, dropped down to battery voltage...best guess the integral regulator has a snafu...Local Advance Auto has not restocked a replacement since last Sunday...THEY WILL HAVE ONE by tomorrow for MY use or???? Challenge is R&R...it was 4 below this AM with snow on...more snow on the way tonight through Wednesday.

On a positive, the girl's team finished 3rd OA in the swim sectional; highest finish in years...Overall, one of the fastest teams times in recent history. A lot of individual & team records broken. Oldest had good, but not great day. Wish I had been able to attend, but see above...:(

So," aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?" it was a great weekend. At least the sun is shining now and already up to 6 degrees to 2 above.

Been living here about 25 years and, just Saturday, I learned of a company 30 miles away that dyes and stabilizes wood and acrylics for knife and gun scales. They apparently sell world wide. They also sell lots of finishing supplies for guys making scales. While, I'm not in to that, I'll bet there will be some stuff that would make some neat inlay material for the gun boxes and other things I make. So, I'm headed down there in about 10 minutes. I'll have a re con report and, maybe pictures, later.

fixin' to get back some of my M&M's...

Between company and shoveling snow (x2) did manage to get the inertia sander done-  pix on Wednesday's...

paying bills today.

okay, no real wood involved in that, but i have to do that first before i wander down to the shop later.  nothing planned, need to stare at things for a bit and get inspired.  or just clean up a bit.  maybe wash the truck if it gets warm enough.

still thinking about desk design.....

Monday + Hibernation Day?

Got a cupboard moved into it's new "home".....already have been told my Daughter wants one....She took her State Board Exam Friday....as of today, she can now work as a LPN, as she passed the exam to get the "L" part.    She wants either a Cupboard....or a Chest of Drawers....Unable to get anymore Ash for a couple months...might just use Pine.

All the schools in the area are closed, today.....might be that layer of Glare Ice, under the 1-2"  of snow?   Too cold here, for any salt to work

Life interfered with Shop plans, so I did not get much accomplished out there this weekend :(

Not much in the way of "Wood Working" this past year, but I did find my work bench last week!

We are starting to weed through various stuff for a "Garage Sale" for our daughter as she will be moving out on her own this year. My wife and I are working towards moving from California to Kentucky later this year so we have a lot of work to do. My wife has an appointment with the knee doctor as she will need to have her knee replaced. Once that is done she will be looking at medical retirement from the school district. So we are looking at a 6-8 month time frame to move, hopefully. I had a couple of Realtors come by my house and do a walk thru looking at everything and give me input on what I need to do to get the house ready to sell. Fortunately it is mostly paint on the interior and some paint and repair on my patio cover along with some TLC to the landscape.

Saturday my wife and I spent the day in San Diego, CA enjoying the beautiful weather along the coast. The one thing that we will miss when we move from California is the ocean. Being that San Diego is home to the Pacific Fleet I had hoped to see some of the Aircraft Carriers in port, but none were docked with the exception of the USS Midway Museum which is always there.

we retired and moved several years ago.  when we sat down to narrow the list of places/regions, one thing stood out:  if everyone else wants to go there, you will pay top dollar.

i.e. - if everyone is looking for a view of the water/golf course/large city, then places with a view of the water/golf course/large city will cost more than places that are not on the top of everyone's list.

and at the end of the day, after 6 months, how often do you stare at that view you paid top dollar for?  it becomes background.

As promised, a recon report on the place found last Saturday.

AMAZING!! Pictures below are only about a 10th of their stock. I'll not label all of them as you can find it all on their website.

PLUS...THEY SELL EPOXY!!!!!!

That's exactly right Dab. We retired and moved to a lake. Then after building a dock 240 miles from the lake plus a lift for the boat, I started fishing, almost every day. After a few months I quit going in the boat. Next year almost everyday I fished from the dock. Caught just as many fish from the dock and didn't have to use any gas... Then after a couple years which has been almost 18 years ago I quit fishing completely , on the dock or out on the lake...My shop time is all the time now.. By the way, I had a house mover tote the dock down here for a few bucks

Thinking back, I could have built a shop larger than this 1 1/2 acre waterfront property I thought I would die for if I didn't buy this property...and probably saved a few bucks for more wood or something...

I even invited any and all the firefighter I knew who fished a lot here to leave their boats home and use mine. Only two takers in all these years. Now I don't even know anyone on the fire dept. anymore since I retired from that in 1980.

So really if your dreams don't get turned into something you have wanted all your life, chances are you can still have a happy life. Thats is if you will stop bitching about it.....and do something else............................... And no I,m not talking about any one person here or there... There are always lots of other things to get involved with...

Gene it looks like you have a gold mine of sorts... But for me, this is what I want to do in my shop. I want to do all that someone else has done for you...As for buying already done made stuff, no, even if I screw up, I still am getting to do something instead of buying... My build probably won't equal the good stuff but the important thing is me doing it..

Thanks, Herb. That's 3.5 hours away, though. System 3 is great stuff, Easy to use.

she can now work as a LPN,

My wife has been an LPN since 1974. She loves the hands on nursing rather than the administrative type responsibilities of an RN

They have on line shipping I believe, too.

my wife retired as an RN.  She talked or helped convince one of her granddaughters in to that also.
