Unexpected Surprise

I had a huge surprise yesterday.  I go out for wings on Thursday nights with my best friend and was backing out of the garage and noticed a box on the front porch.  I thought to myself I didn't order anything and stopped and got the box.  Turns out @Grandpadave52 transferred his recent raffle turning tool win to me!  I am simply floored by that.  I talked to Dave this morning and he said he is not a turner and wanted them to go to someone on The Patriot Woodworker who would use them.  What a good guy he is.  I really appreciate what he has done, it means a lot to me.  Thanks again Dave.

Kudos to Dave! What a wonderful gesture. You are going to LOVE using those Easy Wood Tools. They will bring you to a whole new level of turning!!

Of course, now, we will expect to see more projects posted in the turners forum :)

Probably shouldn't let your guard down:ph34r:...old people do weird things when exposed to bitter cold for days on end:lol:...

Enjoy them...as @lew said, pressure is on you now to turn more and post even more pictures...I couldn't deal with that kind of pressure:P

The Good Guys are our friends and supporters @Jim from Easy Wood Tools for making this happen. Thanks again Jim!

I'm not surprised. Though I've never met Dave personally, he just can't help himself. He has to help whenever he can.  I had a problem with my JD tractor engine a couple of years back.  Dave sent me the needed information and then talked me thru the final repair process on the phone. Saved me a couple hundred $$$  repair cost,  and probably the cost of a new tractor.  I knew Dave would find the right home for the turning tools. It's just who he is.

:wub:  making me blush...just knew they didn't below in my hands. Dan makes some great Christmas gifts for kids at local Children's hospital plus all the kids (big & small) in his family not to mention a cool turned pen he sent me some time back. Those tools are in the hands of a rightful owner...

Coaching the JD fix was my pleasure and fun too. We both learned something new on that one...one that lot's of people couldn't figure out. We both got satisfaction from that or I think you did since you did all the hard dirty work.:D

Never met Dave, but from what I've heard (read?) on here, I'm not surprised. That was one classy move, Gramps!

No Charlie, I resemble that all on my own...I was just trying to use the "old people" reference as a cover up excuse.:P

Truer words have never spoken Ron. It could not have been exemplified more than through the generous giving by all for the Merlo's. Of course w/o our sponsors this would not have been possible either.

Please don't let this overshadow other equally and no less significant similar gestures made by @Allen Worsham with the Spindle Sander prize he donated from this raffle and a like set of EWT's @p_toad donated from our summer site fund raiser. Their generosity deserves equal accolades.

However the ultimate example of giving often goes unseen or unspoken and that's all of you on this site who have served and protect our nation. Nothing I can do will ever fully express my gratitude for that.

That is very nice of you Dave!!!
