Looks like they would be suitable for outdoor use but it didn't really specify. I assume you would just screw down with coated screws to prevent rusting and screw between the nibs.

Not sure how easy it would be to remove ice. All to consider, but seemed like it might be a viable solution.

    The other thing I have always done on the front of the stringers away from the wall. Add a recessed peice where you can put fasteners down between the stringers.  That way if they want to spread away
