but is there any unfinished (sealed) wood???

bathroom and radically fluctuating humidity and all that...

Ya there is, some surfaces are unfinished, such as the inside sides and bottom underneath. I only sealed the floor of the cabinet and of course the exterior exposed surfaces are finished. It's a quarter bath, gets used mainly for potty breaks and washing hands, it's just a sink and a toilet. It'll be fine in that regard.

just thinking about cause and effect if all 6 sides of a door aren't sealed..

Looking good want see it when it done

shouldn't be any humidity problem with only a sink and a toilet.

I'll have the drawer fronts and boxes all finished up Stick, all sides. No doors though in this project.

reference to a sealed door was an analogy w/ the panels in mind..

Building the drawers today for this vanity. I was minding my own business and wife came out with a plate of 4th July leftovers.

I told her, boy you really want these drawers finished don't ya! She smiled and said, yep.

Dang, now I gotta perform!

Last weekend I built the top drawer for our walnut vanity. The box is made of poplar, and the drawer face is, well, walnut. The face was attached using two sliding DT's, each 2" from the ends of the drawer face, and screws counter sunk and dowel capped in strategic locations. I did not get any shots of the process, but I have a second drawer that I need to make, I'll take some progress pics of the sliding DT's I used to attach the face to the drawer box.

The following two images are the drawer parts after I machine cut the dovetails with my Keller DT Jig. This Keller my dad purchased in the mid 80's, he used for making his honey bee boxes for box joints. He passed the jig on to me back in the late 90's. It's a wonderful jig.

I cut the drawer slots on my table saw, and cleaned up the slots for stopped dados towards the front of the box with a chisel, I chopped the stopped dadoes by hand. Normally I would have done the drawer bottom dadoes with my router table and a 1/4" bit, and just stopped shy of where I wanted to stop, but router table base plate is missing parts, I have not used it in a long time, so I chopped the stopped portion out by hand.

Make no mistake, 99% of this project is machined, I just like taking pictures with the project and hand tools.

I was going to work on the bottom drawer this weekend, but I got side tracked to build another vanity in our kids upstairs bathroom. Their bathroom has been a remodeling project for the past 6 months as well. We have an appraiser coming over to our home in a week for our VA refinance, they need to see a fully functional bathroom, so now I am burning the candle to get another vanity built for another bathroom, that vanity will be a painted poplar vanity, shaker style. Along the same lines as my pine cabinets I built for a customer a few years back as seen here at:

Thanks for looking! And following me along.
