  Ed, always enjoy seeing your work.  I've incorporated some of your technics & tips into some jewelry boxes I've done for the granddaughters. I really like the art deco banding you've made for this box. I have found that there is a point when making a box with an inlay that can be too much and it is that point that makes it look goddy or over done. In all your post, here & at wood, you have never crossed that line. Your mix of solids and inlays bring the wood together perfectly. Great job.

As usual you nailed it again. The light and dark plays well

No words left for me to say, but it really is enjoyable seeing what you can do with wood!

So.. I'll wait a bit and start sanding, again.

You glued it in and THEN cut it? How did you do that without marring the inlay?

I used my bandsaw.... cut close then sanded.  Brass is non-ferrous, so no problem. 

That is one AWESOME looking box! Too bad there are only a few things a person can do with a box (insert sarcastic tone)

I cut a 5/8 * 3/8 rabbet on the top edges because I am going to put a cove on the top with the intent of garnering 3/8 to match the rest.   the rest of the rabbets  are 3/8 *3/8.....  

 

Done for today....  Tomorrow, she'll get a coved top on the tablesaw...

 

 

Wow!   I bet you could get $20 for that at a craft show.   Though you might have to bargain down to $18 if they offered 15   </sarcasm>
