In Australia (at least my area) they do local council kerbside collections for you twice a year to throw out a whole lot of stuff for free instead of paying tip fees.

The amount of good stuff that can be reused/recycled is staggering, but there are also a lot of people that go around looking for things to do that (or the scrap metal collectors looking to make a buck).

I've found a few useful bits of furniture and even a working bench grinder just having a little pole around. Can be fun too. Keep my eye out for some reasonable wood for practicing things too.

    Ralph, you're not wrong.  This is a dying art.  Unfortunately, there's not a lot of money in it.  If we charged what we should then no one would want anything repaired.
