March 7, 20197 yr I can't disagree with anything that was said in the video, however, there are a few other issues here. Another member here related a story about a contractor friend who, purchased a SS in October, to replace an existing saw. He had three or four discharges (reasons unclear or unknown) while doing a job. It was a nightmare getting replacement cartridges. So bad, that he had to travel two state over to get the last replacement. Apparently, NONE of the suppliers would sell him more than one cartridge. Why, because there is a short supply and they couldn't get enough in to stock the shelves. So, they were being rationed. The saw cost him added expense and he lost money and time on a simple job. Now, I can't speak as to what caused the discharges, it doesn't matter. Point in fact, every time a discharge occurred; he lost a cartridge, a blade, downtime and the expense of travel for replacement. Not what a contractor doing a small budget job wants. The result of this was that the SS was going bye-bye to be replaced with a non-SS brand. Again, as a Safety Professional I would have insisted on a SS if a tablesaw was replace at work. However, I would never own one personally.
March 7, 20197 yr If they are rationing the cartridges, there must be a lot of discharges. I own two SSs. But they're not spelled Saw Stop.

March 7, 20197 yr The main issue with the SawStop is the inventor. He first tried to require all manufacturers of table saws to install his system in their saws at a price that would have put them out of business. When he was unsuccessful with that and other manufacturers were able to develop improved versions which didn't damage the saw, he successfully managed to block the importing of other manufacturers saws with the improved systems from being sold in the USA. Successfully stopping all competition Edited March 8, 20197 yr by It Was Al B

Successfully stopping all competition Don't forget he also tried to get the government to require "flesh sensing devices" on all table saws somewhere in there, while he had a number of patents that would have prevented any other competition.
