September 3, 201610 yr Popular Post comment_71675 My name is Dave (although have been referred to as Carl by a few) and I come in peace. “Wood” you believe I am an ‘alien’ from another site which now has disappeared into the darkness of cyber-space as if it or its inhabitants never existed. While refreshing my computer the end occurred. I narrowly escaped as a stow-a-way having sought safety from the apocalypse in a tool cabinet. I have reason to believe there are other survivors from the deceased virtual Woodworld who have sought refuge here and living a mostly peaceful existence…many who may have ‘buck-eyes’ (but shouldn’t be held against them), possibly poked by a ‘stick’ then covered with a ‘patch.’ Many others also scattered amongst the chips & dust’ from the fall-out and mayhem if they will just “buck” up to it. Sometimes I still see myself peacefully sitting amidst the corn & soybean fields associated with West Central Indiana and recalling the days only a few years ago of a paying gig devoted to manufacturing. These days more often than not, the clock passes time consumed with four grand-children, gardening, flea markets, yard/garage sales, L&G equipment and the occasional vehicle repair. Once in a while I challenge my skillsets (& Skilsaws) by transforming beautiful specimens of wood into mounds of sawdust when mixed with wood glue is useful in woodworking projects. I have little to offer as compared to most others aside from providing a few comments along the way. I do confess to possessing a terrible disease with no known cure…you may have heard of it or about it…Toolcollectinghism…a terrible debilitating disease sometimes confused with a similar ailment known as Toolhoarding. While orbiting your site the past few days it appears there may be a few others here also afflicted with the hideous illness. I’m hoping to find some consoling among them…it appears they have a societal leader in a “Mr. Newman.” Anyways that’s my story as I seem to recall it. Hopefully I’m allowed to remain here contributing when I can and eligible for assistance when warranted. As an offering of good will please help yourself to the virtual fried, circular, centerless coated cakes of dough below. I understand these are often consumed with massive amounts of a granular laced, black liquid substance which is super-heated before drinking. Until sometime later than now…na-nu, na-nu… Report

September 3, 201610 yr comment_71678 Dave, congrats on the successful escape. We allow all species here (even Buckeyes) but I am particularly fond of Hoosiers. Welcome and learn your way around. Most inhabitants are friendly but there are a few that are iffy. Report
September 3, 201610 yr comment_71679 Grandpa, that has got to be about the funniest, most clever introduction I have seen since we have opened our community years back, this was very funny! And great writing too! Welcome sir, and pull up a chair and pass out those donuts, it's a pleasure to have ya here, and you are among fellow space creatures, we all share a space, called The Patriot Woodworker, thanks for joining us Gramps! Well Ron we have to concede, they've certainly got football over us...well at least college anyway! The site came HIGHLY recommended. It's driving mission is far greater than anything wood related. Proud to be here. Report

Thanks John...I'm not sure what you mean by funny though...It practically is almost partly half true. Regardless whatever led me down that path, I'm thankful to have made it here and already appreciate everyone who has made this site successful. Thanks again for the welcome! Report
