Friday, Sept 2nd, What's on your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

My day was probably over before a lot of yours started.  I work nights, got off work at 5AM.  I had an appointment to donate blood at 730 this morning, so did that, and got a haircut.  3 day weekend, and on vacation next week, so my woodworking will resume tomorrow.

OK, I'm a little late for this thread.  Friday night, we packed the travel trailer and moved in for the weekend.  Didn't tell anyone where we were.  Just said we were not home.    (The trailer is park

Looks like fun John.   I am still mostly in recuperate mode, but I am probably going to go ahead and get that pen done that I have been putting off until I felt better. After that, we'll see

I'm not surprised John.  California bans everything.

Heck, I think even I'm banned at times!

You'll have to ask Tonya, John

Spent most of the day picking up the architect, running to an old-timey saw mill in Indiana, picking out 150 bdft of wood, then running to a lumberyard in Ohio and picking up 8 sheets of plywood, then running to shop 1 to unload most of it, shop 2 to unload the rest of it, then driving home.   The three of us are working on a chapel remodel for the church.   Wainscoting, chair rail, base rail all around, and three cabinets for storage.

Tomorrow I'm going to help build set props for a play two of my grandkids are in later this month.

GP100 but the Sig has quite a bit more in stopping power... VOE...

In the next couple of days I plan to finish the seats for my two arm chairs. I started them almost a year ago.  It took a bit to get the parts all milled as I was in the middle of two big projects at work and didnt get much shop time in. I got the finish on em this spring and the intention was to get them completed by our anniversary on June 25th. I got started on a big landscaping project early this summer and it ate up a bunch of my time. The seats are simple slip cover seats but because of the arm rest supports they arent able to be shaped like the ones for the side chairs.

I haven't been out in the shop a whole lot in the last couple of weeks since I finished a jewelry hutch commission for a friend.  then an order for some more of the deck boards I am engraving for a local mexican restaurant's go fund me account showed up in my email and I banged those out on my cnc machine. I think I am up around 80 boards for them so far. The much loved locally restaurant burned to the ground and some new owners stepped up and built a completely new building and folks have been lining up to help defray the costs since construction began late last fall. they have been up and running all summer and the future looks bright for them.

The big current project is in the house is the reversal of our basement staircase so the bottom landing is in a different area of the basement so we can create a 16 x 28 sewing/quilting studio for the LOML.

The reversal was a bear since when the house was built 12 years ago all the particle board treads and risers were glued with subfloor adhesive and the screwed down. Then i had to figure out how the midway landing was tied in and lift it to the new location. got it all reconfigured and back into operation in 1 day.

We are going for the knotty pine look for the stairs sol  last Sunday I machined and glued up some carefully picked  common SPF construction lumber 2x6's into new stair treads and I hope to get the risers and mop boards made tomorrow. Maybe if the poop doesnt hit he fan I can even get it all installed by Monday night!  Then it's electrical time since the light switches are now in the wrong places.

Then there  is the....      One step at a time i guess

What part of Indiana Keith?

My cc is a Taurus Millennium 111 G2. It is a nice weapon just has a long trigger pull. I am working on a dye project on a large hollowform and pawns for a chess set. Sunday I will be working Security at church.

Kind of a sign of the times that (presumably ) armed security is required at church, isnt it? But I agree if the need is there... the other plan for the weekend, some trigger time with my cc weapon (ruger lc9s)  and my 20 year old daughter who is planning on taking her permit class on the 18th.  She doesn't really like guns in general but is being practical.

Have a Tractor Fest to walk around in...all day long.     Mainly for all the tool vendors that usually set up.  The Bandit will be out and about today, looking for tool deals......

BTW: Last time I fired a weapon, I was getting paid by Uncle Sam....Last time I went "Hunting", the prey could (and did) fire back....I had to learn how to duck, too.   They missed, most of the time..except for three.....

With GrandBRATS running around in the house,  there isn't any firearms in the house.    Just because I don't care for the things....doesn't mean I don't know how to use them.

Better to know to use one, even if yoh don't like them, that knowledge could be a life saver some day for someone

I have been plinking away in the backyard with a Gamo Whisper Quite adult air rifle that I just picked up.  Set a target up against the brick chimney of the vacant house next door.  It is at least 100 feet away from me sitting on my patio.  The thing is pretty darn accurate and fun to play around with.  Somehow the chipmunks know to stay hidden when I am out there.

The new wall and side shed is painted. Will get the double door painted tomorrow. Glad that part is over!

I have been reluctant to mention my other hobby and the "tools" I use because there are so many anti-gun people out there, but I see alot posted here. My everyday carry is a Ruger LC9s, My at home and fun on the range gun is a Ruger SR9 and my 22 cal. competition gun is a Ruger Mark III which is at the gunsmith having a Volquartsen competition trigger installed. I will be shooting in our clubs fall indoor league with I think nine other clubs.

So today I built a target storage rack for the club and while I was there I did some shooting and at home did a project for the wife to keep her happy.

Joe, you're in good company here because many of us carry.  Depending on my mood and what I'm wearing, I switch off between a PT111G2, my Glock or a S&W bodyguard.  Don't leave home without it.

Thanks Ron, you have some nice weapons there. Massachusetts is one step behind CA for stupid laws that tell us what we can and cannot buy. Rugers are pretty easy to come by and I suspect our atty general owns stock there.

Thanks Joe.  Indiana ranks in the top ten in guns owned per capita and I feel it is my duty to move us up the list.  Currently looking for an AR.
