I was working Security this past Sunday also.

Of course in Alabama, there are probably more people carrying that not.

OK, I'm a little late for this thread.  Friday night, we packed the travel trailer and moved in for the weekend.  Didn't tell anyone where we were.  Just said we were not home.    (The trailer is park

Looks like fun John.   I am still mostly in recuperate mode, but I am probably going to go ahead and get that pen done that I have been putting off until I felt better. After that, we'll see

What part of Indiana Keith?

Wilhelm Lumber in SW ( Brookville).   It's a really difference place.   You walk in the warehouse and tell Beau you want such and such a wood in whatever grade.   He'll grab a forklift and pull out a stack of such wood.   You sort thru and pull out what you want and put it on a cart.   Beau will then measure it and usually discount it here and there for defects.    When you are happy and if you want it that way, for an extra 35 cents a bdft, he'll grab a helper, run it through the straight line rip saw, take it into the next room and surface plane and sand on two sides.   They wheel it out and load it up, you pay the young lady in the office and you're off.

I've also bought a lot of wood from Frank Miller Lumber in Union City (right on Indiana Ohio line north of I-70)  They are one of the largest manufacturers of quarter-sawn white oak in the country.   Nice thing about them is you can call in an order and it shows up at your shop, no delivery charge, within a week when they have a truck headed your way.

Keith, Frank Miller is where I buy all of my lumber.  Great people and a great place

Ron, I've bought some here. Nice to deal with. They usually have a booth at the Woodworking Show in Indy each year. I'd guess 1:15-1:30 west of you on SR 26 on the east edge of town. They're about an 1:15 +/- NE of me.

Russiaville got some bad press earlier this year when two Howard County (Kokomo) deputies were shot there while serving a warrant...one fatally. Suspect then took himself out. Russiaville also was nearly wiped off the map from the Palm Sunday tornado in 1965.

Hollingsworth Lumber

I have a friend that uses Hollingsworth religiously.  I use FML primarily because I get a business discount and their stock is better.  Union City is about an hour east of here.  I also get to go through Winchester and stop by the Wicke's Pie Shop too.

We had a great weekend - just the two of us - no phone, no company, kept the curtains closed.  (Of course, we had the shore power hooked up, water connected, and TV antenna up.)

NO sawdust (which was amazing in itself)

AND - we are still talking with one another  :P:wub:

Definitely low stress not having to travel and low cost too.

No phone, no guests, just each other. Now, that's a real vacation.

Ron, I believe you took me to FML. But NOT the pie place.

I forgot about that Gene.  Yes, we did go to FML but ate in Portland, not at the pie shop.  Maybe next time.

Hopefully, the next time will be in Snowflake and I can treat you to the best pie in  all of Arizona.

OK since we are talking guns here for a bit. I used to have many myself but due to one thing or another, I have none left. I would like to get one soon for defense, but I need something that is reliable but not $500+. I need something more in the $300 range, are there any semi auto pistols that are reliable in this price range? I havent been to a gun shop or pawn shop in years. Last time I went to one I picked up a less than reliable gun, that I sold about a year later because I could not rely on it.

I have a new basement shop but the new house is in much disrepair.  So the shop while have to wait for a while.

Gutter down spout dis assembly to cut to the correct lengths so have it align with the scupper and properly fit without pushing the scupper above the line of the gutter bottom.

As soon as the in-laws leave go back in side to continue installation of the hardwood floor.  This is 2.25" pre-finished oak. The sub-floor is OSB and needs the joints sanded in some places to get it flat.

Had a horrible squeak but removed all the 112 screws from 3 joists in about 3 foot.  Looked down low found the problem shimmed up the wall to lift above the OSB that was not sanded and the shims do double duty by pressing down the OSB so there is no play.  Resolved.  Amazing what you can resolve when looking at it properly.

I only shimmed the wall up about 1/16" .  After hardwoods and base and trim moldings comes electrical and then finally the shop will be out fitted with new cabinets and a better saw and then I will post pictures.  I am too ashamed of its current state.  Thanks to the needs of the hardwood floor the TS and BS are up and running.  That is table saw and band saw so put you minds in shop.  Will build my first dedicated workbench and will use pre fabbed counters to get a dead flat surface for the chop saw.
