This was harder than it looked!!! Had to go back to woodworking basics - cutting angles, especially the 22.5 (youtube vid made it look so easy) needed for the base. Plus the slot for the acrylic and notch for the back. Then put it all together and hoped the flag would fit. I've seen better folds but this is what was used. Made a lot of firepit fuel and probably have enough pieces cut and laying around to make another one or two boxes. Makes one appreciate "old school skills." Tip: unlock the head on a compound miter saw before trying to use it. Works a lot better. This is for my wife's step dad who adopted her kid brother when he was 10 and raised him. Going to give it to him this afternoon.

I was privileged, honored, humbled, and blessed to participate in an Honor Flight on Wednesday, Sept. 28. It's hard to describe what the experience is like. All I'm going to say here is, if you are veteran, Please, Please, sign up for a flight. It doesn't matter where you served, it doesn't matter what branch, it doesn't matter if you saw combat or if you didn't. If you wore the uniform you are eligible to take part in an honor flight. GET ON THE LIST!! If you're not a veteran, tell someone you know who is a veteran. Beg them if necessary to just sign up. Did I mention any veteran can and should get on the list? Just do it. If something similar to this has been posted before, too bad, deal with it and get signed up.

Hi, folks Whilst I was "surfing" the web, I stumbled upon a site that I would like to share with you. I was so impressed with the symbolism that I designed a cutting to honor this organization and our heroes. The symbolissm in this cutting is as follows: The Red Field represents the blood spilled by brave men and women in America's military throughout our history, who willingly gave their lives so that we all would remain free. The Blue Star represents active service in military conflict. This symbol originated with World War I, but on this flag it signifies service through all generations from the American Revolution to present day. The White Border beneath and surrounding the gold star recognizes the purity of sacrifice. There is no greater price an American can pay than to give his or her life in service to our country. The Gold Star signifies the ultimate sacrifice of a warrior in active service who will not return home. Gold reflects the value of the life that was given. The Folded Flag signifies the final tribute to an individual life that a family sacrificed and gave to the nation. The Flame is an eternal reminder of the spirit that has departed this life yet burns on in the memory of all who knew and loved the fallen hero. Chick-fil-A (another reason to eat there)
John Morris posted a topic in The Veterans Corner and Causes Forum
We know how good their food is, we know they are a rebel establishment that upholds their own principles in the face of social challenges, and now we know their feet are firmly planted in their support of our military. This picture taken at a Chick-fil-A at Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, AL. The missing man table.- 5 replies

June 6th 1944 was a turning point in the war against Germany. Code name Operation Neptune, Allied troops laid it all on the line for the freedoms that we enjoy today as thousands of brave men and women stormed the beaches of France by sea and air. It seems so very long ago but we must never forget the valor of these who fought and died for us. Please take the time to sit back and honor those who fought by watching this archival clip of that day and just REMEMBER.
