I am building a hosier cupboard. it calls for 1.5 sheets of 3/4" A-1 Grade oak plywood. and 2 sheets of 1/4" plywood. I already have 1 sheet of 3/4" quarter sawn white oak and 7/8 of a sheets of 1/4 quarter sawn white oak. That appears to be $300+ of new wood to be purchased. I have the 40 bf of oak (alredy in house) and 15bf of 4/4 birch for drawer side and runners. Do you see any issue using oak for the drawer sides and runners? I have a lot of rough sawn oak. I will post the project after I get all the materials in house.

Shaker Style Cupboard Using Only Hand Tools (Video)

Sometimes instructional videos can get long, and that is fine if you are mainly unfamiliar with every step of the process to make your project. This video however, was just right, assuming you already have a grasp on layout and design and tools usage, this young man goes through the basic steps on making a very nice shaker cupboard. I am in the process of making rail and stile and raised panel doors for mama's cabinet, using hand tools, and I wanted to get some tips on the process and order of steps, I found this relatively short video that included what I needed to see. Actually this video has inspired me to make a cupboard just like he is making, it looks like a wonderfully fun project! One of the best tips I picked up from this video is how to create sliding dovetails, check it out, it's really slick! Enjoy!- 9 replies

Per orders of the Boss. There is to be a skinny "pantry cupboard" made. It has to fit in a corner of the Dinning Room next to the chimney. Kind of a dead space, not much seems to fit in there. Picked up a few boards the other day... Flat sawn, 4/4 by 6" by 5'-6' long. Thinking I can take the four longest slabs, and do a glue up into the two side panels. Size of the space I need to fill? 26" in width, 12-13" in depth.....between 60-67" in height. Thinking a single raised panel door..... The Infamous Single Brain Cell Sketch Up is now hard at work......Have enough 3/4" plywood for the shelves......May need one more plank for the face frames and door frames.....May go back out to Southern Logan County, OH....and buy a couple more planks.....we'll see. Still in the plan(??? What IS a plan)stage.....stay tuned

This is a scanned document of the now defunct Workbench Magazine of this era. Permission was granted by the new Workbench Publication for The Patriot Woodworker community to copy and use the old Workbench Magazine at our pleasure, and for free distribution and re-use. This scan is of a corner cupboard, this is a great example of traditional design. These old Workbench Magazine's were fairly light on the detail, but with some prior knowledge and experience you can use this plan as a great jumping off point to build this corner cupboard. Enjoy!
