I'm continuing to work on my den coffee table. Today I finished up making the breadboard ends.

I'm finishing some detail work on a sideboard carcase I've been working on forever. Then on to making a mirror frame and ordering a mirror for it. Other wise it's tinkering in the shop and I have a few peach pies to put together to freeze for the winter. Thursday I need to get a heart monitor hooked up to wear for a week....definitely not looking forward to that.

4th ( bottom) step was added, yesterday...

while dodging the local Monsoon Weather....( have a nasty one here this morning, as well)

By the time Son's new riding lawnmower arrives next Monday...we might be bailing Hay?

Shop was entertaining on a Monday morning....

Went to hang the door on the left...had to remove the 5 drawer tool chest, BEFORE I could work....

Hold the door in place, add a screw at the top hole, then work me way down...Piano hinges seem to have an over-abundance of screw holes in 36"...

Tested the doors to see how they close up...

Currently...can't even see 25 yards out a window....about to where that tree is in the second photo....rumble is non-stop....

Does Ohio have Monsoons? been 3 straight days of this stuff....even the cat is getting scared...let alone two dogs.....

Not sure IF some Bearded old Fart is building an Ark....yet...stay tuned..

Finished up a couple of turnings. One for a former student who gave me the locust log. I think we had more rain in the past week than the entire month of July. An inch yesterday and the same the day before that! Won't need to drag the hose down to the garden for a couple of days☺️

Started cutting up some sweet gum logs yesterday. Also working on a rack for tractor to hold a tool box. About to to to open shop for woodturners. Other than that HOT

I have been working on some trim to cover some "installation issues" with some new windows. Got the pieces prepped, cut to fit, and stained. Hopefully can install tomorrow.

My husband started on a second flag from the cutoffs of the first, along with some new boards I worked on for the ones that lacked full length.

Question - due to the use of cutoffs, some sections ("bottom" of the waves) are very (very!) thin. Was thinking of attaching to a plywood backer, but then got to thinking about wood movement. Would gluing the pieces to a large plywood panel be a potential concern? I don't want the flag to crack or distort over time. Any thoughts on this are appreciated!

And I ordered a metal hanging bracket which is supposed to arrive tomorrow for the first flag he finished.

Gerald, I'd be interested to see what you come up with on that rack for the tractor toolbox.

Strip of glue in the center, parallel to the grain on the flag, 3-4" wide is ok. I would put some lath screws on the outside edges top and bottom, hitting the thicker parts of the wave. An inch or more in from the edge is fine. Oversize the holes in the plywood by maybe 1/8", the washer head on the lath screw will cover that.

I think I would undersize the plywood considerably and paint it's edges black. Then when you hang it you get a floating effect vs the wall.
