February 27Feb 27 Popular Post Well folks, we've arrived at the last Friday in February 2026. It sure seems like it's been a long time coming.I'm not much horsepower, but I'll step in for @Larry Buskirk this week. Perhaps Bruce has him crawling through the steam tunnels again. Not much happening here in West Central Indiana. Wrapped up the oldest grandson's first year of high school basketball Wednesday. They lost their last game but had a pretty good season overall; varsity not so much. Youngest grandson has his travel league tourney Sunday. I hope to attend church first then head to the first game. I'm still battling the head cold my Mrs. gifted me. If it wasn't for the watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, coughing and headache, I wouldn't feel too bad.So what's on your weekend agenda. Nosey people want to know. That, and I don't get out much.
February 28Feb 28 Popular Post Thanks, Dave for stepping up!!Ordered drive belts for this Sony Reel to Reel tape deck- circa late 60'sSurprised they were still available. Unfortunately, the rubber pinch roller/drive wheels are pretty scarce. While I wait for the belts, these need to turned into rolling pins
February 28Feb 28 Popular Post Hope to finish my mobile clamp rack. Have to install casters and get another coat or two of finish applied. Then will come the "more fun" part of organizing the clamps on the cart!Current status is upside-down as just attached the base and added blocks for the casters, plus put some finish on the bottom (other parts have one coat thanks to my husband's help).
February 28Feb 28 I'm thinking about making a Japanese Kanna plane. I've been tinkering in my shop for determining the best construction approach and materials to make it. Edited February 28Feb 28 by MrRick

My poor, long-suffering, but devoted husband was my "willing" partner in the search for the best available. 🙂

Glad you're back home. Worst day at home still beats the best day in the hospital. VOE.
February 28Feb 28 @steven newman Glad you are home and mending. Stay out of the dungeon shop for a while!!
February 28Feb 28 Popular Post Grandson here for the weekend. Been working on building my inventory up as has been low with no time to add stock since spending most of my time setting up the shop. Just about time to get the garden fence fixed and then gardening starts.@steven newman Hope you are getting better.Missing the Dungeon Reports. Edited February 28Feb 28 by Gerald
February 28Feb 28 Popular Post All I have planned for the weekend is a date with two beautiful women tomorrow.Talking my daughter and granddaughter out for an early dinner.
February 28Feb 28 Suggestions welcome. What is the best way to "fix" a miscut for an assembled piece. My one piece of plywood needs "trimmed" on the one side to allow me to add a top tray. Thinking handsaw? (Not good with hand tools!).

I'd score a line to help minimize tearout..And maybe add blue painters tape along the cut line to help lessen the tear out. And, if possible, position the newly cut end so that any tear out is not as noticeable. If you have a jigsaw, clamp a straight edge as a guide. Painters tape over the cutting line. Be sure to place the jigsaw and guide on "inside" of the plywood to help reduce visible tear out.Same idea if you have a skill saw.
February 28Feb 28 Thanks for the suggestions. I want to trim down the high side (can deal with the low side later). May try jig saw first and then clean up with a router. Thinking for the latter that using double-sided tape to hold a board at the height I need would give the bearing a surface to register. This is the top of my clamp rack so both sides will be visible. 🙄 Issue is at the arrow end of the top.
February 28Feb 28 If that's 3/4" plywood, I would go with @Grandpadave52's flush trim idea and your thought of the board/double sided tape. Definitely score lines to lessen the possibility of tear out
February 28Feb 28 Score a line acoss....then, simply belt sand down to that line..make a slow pass, check the line...repeat as needed, and where it is needed...start at the high end..work your way down, each pass gets a bit longer. Stop when all of the line has been barely nicked...
February 28Feb 28 For me....I would draw a line where the finished surface needs to be and hand plane it to that line. A few strokes and it would be done.
