Popular Post steven newman Posted Sunday at 03:30 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted Sunday at 03:30 PM Roh-kay, Raggie..Friday was a busy day, anyway way..Panel came out of the clamps... These 2 took turns at flattening both faces...then This one smoothed out a few spots Next, got out me Drawing Kit Needed 4 lines that this "Thing" could follow.. And do all 4 corners with.. Deabte is for which face will be the "Show Face".. Aprons? Was not happy with the short one..meanwhile, there were "Steps" between the curves and the straight sections...we have ways.. With THAT taken care of..back to the apron problem... Had a chunk of 2 x6 Ash.. Laid the short apron down to find the best section... This was on it's way to the Fire Pit bin Used the short apron one more time..ripped the 2x for width..then stood it up and resaw to thickness... That needed a bit of clean up.. We have ways of making you flat.... So..NOW I have 4 aprons I am happy with.. Next..Legs.... My Stanley #45 does not include any cove bits...but..my router does.. The face that get a cove, had not been planed smooth..so I did that first, router had to be pulled back towards me.. Repeat 3 more times... Not quite a true "Cove" but..I like it.. Will see about milling tenons and Mortises later today...stay tuned By the way..this is the other face... Trying to decide which will be the "Show Face"....or.. Hmmm... Fred W. Popular Post steven newman Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM Yes..all of this did make a mess on my shop floor...swept up into a pile.. Then cleaned up and into the Fire Pit Bin... Still a bit dusty...oh well..at least it isn't Carpet.... 4DThinker, Fred W. Hargis Jr, HARO50 and 5 others 8 Quote

Popular Post steven newman Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM Ok..next task? Needed to change a saw blade, before I start on milling Tenons..so Need to remove the rip blade, and put the red blade in it's place.. Not a whole lot of room for fat fingers to work in... Took about 5 minutes..and yes.. Saw was indeed un-plugged... Needed to find out how thick the Aprons actually were... We have ways... A hair under 3/4" thick...as I needed to center this thing up... About 1/3 of the thickness..worked on all the aprons.. Almost...because 2 were a bit thicker...still needed 2 more cuts made.. Cheek? Shoulder? about 1/2" removed... Needed to lay out for a mortise.. Set to match the tenon, and the chisel.. First, a bit of work to make the coves.. Yep, there is a screwhole in that tenon...and the only thing that will see it, will be the glue...Flattened the best looking face on each apron.. Then a smoother to finish up after the coves were milled.. Ok, got out the Mortise jig...it was still set up for legs...Got out a Stanley No. 77.... Laid out a mortise. All set to chop...then a dry fit.. Then do the other Mortise for this leg..and dry fit it, as well... One corner done...3 more to go... Stay tuned Gerald, lew, HARO50 and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post steven newman Posted Wednesday at 01:06 AM Author Popular Post Report Posted Wednesday at 01:06 AM Kept going... Got the last mortise chopped... Decided to just go ahead and glue things up.. Diagonal clamp to pull things into square..with a bit of help from the Tablesaw.. these ridges, are square to the front edge of the Tablesaw's top...works for me... Decided to work on corner braces...sooo.. Had a decent enough piece of Pine scrap...made a bunch of 45 degree miter cuts....drilled a few counter sunk pilot holes... And, a few slotted mounting holes...glue & screw into the corners....add a screw and a washer to attach the base to the Top..... Letting this sit a day...still have to run a cove around the top of the Top..and see about a finish.. Stay tuned.. lew, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52 and 4 others 7 Quote
Popular Post steven newman Posted Wednesday at 05:22 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted Wednesday at 05:22 PM Out of the clamps, this morning.. ran this thing around, twice.. then sanded the top to 220 grit, for now... Moved this back to the tablesaw....stained the underside...and wiped it down.. Then, did the same to the top of the Table.. Stand this up on it's own four feet....and let it dry a day...or 2... Brush on, wipe off... Stay tuned Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52, HARO50 and 2 others 2 3 Quote
