:ChinScratch: Friday again.

Fired up the boiler next door Monday, other than that not a whole lot going on around here.

It's been too wet for outdoor activities which means the outdoor shop is closed.

As little as I can get away with, even less IF they let me....looking like a "nice" day to just stay around IN the house...

Goal for today is NO Friday night trips to ER. Rest of the weekend, my "normal" doing mostly nothing. Some college football games tomorrow that will garner my interest.

Senior recognition day for my youngest granddaughter tomorrow at their home swim meet. Usually it's the last home meet of the year which is in January but she'll be in Guatemala during the month of January on a medical mission internship. Hoping they'll live stream the meet.  She's been swimming competitively since the 5th grade. Virtual, live stream church Sunday.

A donut emergency has been declared. The donut depository has gone bankrupt. Withdrawals have far exceeded any deposits. How is this possible?

got this made yesterday, just one, it's unique, made out of some scrap maple, about 3-1/2" tall, about 1-3/8" wide at the widest part.  little gift for a yankee swap next month, we were asked to bring a wrapped ornament, bought or made, so someone will take it home.

hint:  it's a tree......

Working on finishing up Xmas presents from the shop.

- card box for Grandson's wedding reception next May

- two shadow boxes for granddaughters to put their dance troop pins in.  One is smaller because she probably won't keep going after this year

- jigsaw puzzle board got what should be last finish on 4 drawers, frame, and top trim pieces.  Drying in the finish room

First project for my weekend is to get the motor home winterized for its long winter nap. I also just got back from visiting with my brother in Ohio.  He had a cherry stump in his Back yard. I was able to get a few pieces from that and I hope to have time to start rough turning those. :)

Got some outdoor stuff done today. Final trim of hedge so decorations can go up next week. Hauled all that lumber I have made down to the Ranch. Raked up a few leaves. Showed a friend how I turn a Christmas tree with a plus. Will be demoing this tomorrow at the club with our Three Lathe Turn In. Photos tomorrow

Working on a Kissmas tree that @Artie showed us.  Hopefully a legacy gift for my grandson.

Used some maple and cherry that was left over.  Having some difficulty finding a finial that matches the threading on the rod.  I did find the angle cut for the tree shape is about 73 degrees on the miter gauge.  See, trig does come in handy in real life!

The article I'm using also shows a simple storage box, which seems like a great idea.

Replacing/updating non-working undercounter kitchen fluorescent lights with LED versions.  Thinking about doing the same with the overhead fluorescent lights in my garage.

Yesterday I worked in the shop on some long overdue stuff and made good progress.

Picked up some plumbing parts "just in case" for a long overdue fix to one of the toilets - leaks at the wax ring, easy fix but it's only leaking because the flange is probably too high and it used to rock when I bought the house.  Back then I did a quick bandaid fix with some tile spacers and caulk to keep it from rocking but now I need to pull it off and replace the wax.  Luckily this house has a basement there (my shop) so I can get at the pipe easily to lower the flange if I need to.  Plumbing sure got easy with PVC pipe, but I still don't relish the job.

Also took a flat tire off the Horrible Old Truck (I always have one around, sometimes two).  Odd because it's a fairly new tire and the HOT gets low mileage (my dog hates it!).  Turns out it's leaking at the bead, problem I've never had before.  Trying to figure what to do now, as there's no spare.  I don't like the tires so I was going to replace them with the factory size and give them to a guy at work who needs a set for one of his horrible old trucks.  Probably I'll just do that, maybe pull all four off and pay to have them dismounted so I can clean and paint the rims before getting new tires.  Just didn't want to spend the bucks right now (ok, I never actually want to spend, except on lumber!).

Raining today, good day to work some more in the shop!

Got three undercounter florescent lights updated with LED bulbs and two more in my shelving system switched out as well.  Took cutting out ballasts and rewiring a bit.  Kind of surprised that they all worked first time they powered up. The ones in my shelving system reside in a box atop the shelves to provide upward ambient room light as well as illuminate whatever is on the top shelf below.
