November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345601 Howdy Y'all. It's Monday? What in the heck is that? I can't seem to remember. Seems like it's been a month of Sundays since I retired Taking Mrs. Boss to see the doctor today. Start planning to take Q'bert to Toledo Bend state park for Thanksgiving. Meeting other RVing family there for the holiday. Will try to raise my new antenna mid weekish depending on weather. It's an amazingly lengthy process. All 3 antennas on the mast and guys have to come down. The mast itself has to lay flat on the ground. Add the antenna, and put the whole thing back together again. Long time friend Billy aka Hillbilly asked me about my radio station. Here are the contacts we made in about a hour. Now infected, he is looking into setting up his own station. .40 Report
November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345602 The weekend didn't go as I had planned, I had to take Marie to the ER Saturday PM for intense hip pain (that her 2 surgeries were supposed to fix). Then this morning we're on our way to see the spinal surgeon. Sure seems like somebody could figure this out, but after several years and multiple doctors all that seems to have happened is that things got worse. Report
November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345603 Had a good weekend and the team put another one in the W column , so moved up 2 to 6 places in poles . that depends on which one you look at. Grandson was here and he helped me move wood from ranch to shop and sawdust to ranch for compost pile we are building. burned some ammo thru the JR Carbine. Started drawing out plans for the leanto shed for tractor. Almost done with the lumber to build it with. Today final prep for a week at the AG Museum demoing for Harvest Fest. Report

Prayers for Marie and you as well. Also to the medical team to identify the cause. Take care my friend. Report
November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345608 Spent a lot of the weekend catching up on lost sleep. Did enjoy some football especially IU's surprising rise to National prominence. Nothing much planned this week, just more R&R. Need to get my daily vitals taken and uploaded to my care team. Getting that "free" gubnit hour yesterday helps with R&R. I've been studying the cats for best practices for getting plenty of sleep. Still have 1/2 of that six pack (donuts) to develop a consumption strategy. Creating a pie chart seems appropriate. I just need to get the pie. Since someone here mentioned donuts, I probably should take a quick inventory of our supply. Report

I hate those liars. Their cures don't always work. I sure hope Marie finds some relief. Edited November 4, 20241 yr by HandyDan Report

Spinal surgery is a scary thing which my brother has just had done, twice. Drove to the Fairfax, VA Rockler Store on Saturday, for an Easy Wood Tools demo. I hate driving the Interstates and the maze of routes around Washington and Baltimore. Thank goodness for interactive maps and GPS. A little over 2 hours each way and 3 hours in the store. It was enjoyable but I was beat by the time I got home! I did get their last can of Bloxygen. Hoping it will work to help preserve the home made wipe on poly. Report

November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345624 Thoughts & prayers for Marie to be feeling better soon. All four of my girls spent the weekend together in Columbus for a concert on Sunday. I watched football all weekend. They'll be home later today; I have to convince the cat not to panic, I know how to use the can opener. Report

November 4, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_345634 We are prepping for the annual 'Crafts of Colrain Studio Tour' this coming weekend. It's been a balancing act between building the piece I need and external forces inserting themselves into the mix. Saturday they had the benefit auction at a local private school which I donated 2 pieces. The Clarinet Light and a Meat Grinder Light. They sent me a couple of far better pic of those lamps. Last week I tried to finish a Bicycle Rim Light that I have been commiserating over for most of this year. My problem was how to hang the light from the top of the rim. The picture I stole the idea from just had the wire running through the hole and into the socket, which I don't believe is legal or safe. I needed it to hang straight down and finally settled on a couple of compression fittings I really didn't like them, but needed to move on to other pieces. I woke up at midnight on Saturday and started thinking about the light. There had to be a better way to build it. I mentally went through my inventory of lamp parts for about 2 hours, and then it hit me. all I needed was to use 2 loop fixtures and a link of chain between them., and after a 1/2 hour more I knew I had to get up and secure the pieces or I'd never get back to sleep, especially because this was turn your clocks back night so I would have an additional hour to stew over this. I went right to the draw with the loops but I could not find a Nickel Plated Link. I checked all the lights I had and then found a box that not only had the link but had the 2 loops, but also had the link attached to them! OK, back to bed, and surprisingly I went right off to sleep now that the problem was solved. Sunday morning after chores were done I sat down and fixed the light. The light has an 8" base, 20" rim, an 8" shade, and a dimmer switch built into the socket. So after thinking about this light for 7-8 months, it is exactly what I was going for. Report
