We are pleased to bring you another great opportunity as presented by our sponsors, and friends at Woodcraft Supply and Easy Wood Tools. We are having a fundraiser! Presented to you are some wonderful prizes donated by our sponsors for the purpose of raising funds for our woodworking community.

 

How this works

If you donate $2.00 to our fundraiser, your name will be entered into our random draw 1 times.

If you donate $5.00 to our fundraiser project, your name will be entered into our random draw 3 times.

If you donate $10.00 to our fundraiser project, your name will be entered into our random draw 7 times.

The more you donate, the more chance you have of winning.

The project will start on June 23, 2024 and end on August 2, 2024 when the names will be drawn to receive the fabulous items donated by our sponsors.

With the help of many folks here, we've made a nice atmosphere for woodworkers to create friendships, share, collaborate, and help. Not too mention, we do some pretty cool stuff for our veterans too.

It might be hard for some to understand, and in the world we live in today, it's very easy to become skeptical of intentions, and mistrusting. After all, does anyone do anything anymore unless they are to profit from it? That's the world we live in today.

 

The Patriot Woodworker has two sponsors, we receive a modest amount from them once a year to help pay our bills and to help us help others. Then we ask you, our members once a year to help too Not one single person involved with running this community forum, makes a dime off of you, our members. we do not pocket a single penny, period.

 

We do not have pop up ads all over the place that other forums use to generate income, we don't have trackers that know where you are going to or where you are coming from, we don't have egotistical moderators, we don't even have egotistical members! We don't have the bells and whistles and articles and blogs and how to do this and how to do that videos, but what we do have is a community of woodworkers where egos are checked at the door, and everybody, and I mean everybody, is very helpful.

All that has to have value I would imagine.

If you find value in this forum, please consider contributing to our efforts to raise money to help keep us live. Are we going anywhere? No. We have folks who no doubt would step up to the plate and ensure that doesn't happen, worse case scenario I would personally ensure that we are not going anywhere, but it would be nice to spread the burden.

 

If you are unable to contribute to our efforts, it's completely understandable, and if you are a contributor of content here, you have done your part already, you are helping us stay active, but if you can spare a buck, well you know, that would be very cool . 

Most importantly, no matter what you do, stay here, contribute often, help others, share, and be kind. And ultimately that is more valuable than a greenback.

You guys are the most awesome set of folks in a woodworking community I've had the pleasure of interacting with and knowing.

Well the bed to bench project is going slowly.  I have never in my 30 years a a mechanic and 35 plus years playing with wood had this happen to me.  I have broken more than my share of drill bits.  But this bed…I think it’s maple, and if it is, it is a very hard maple!  While pre-drilling some holes, this happened.  It’s a first for me.

Yep a first I have never seen in 50 plus .I would say it was not tempered properly as it should be brittle and break.

This place is and has been a learning experience for me. And the friends I've made over the years have been wonderful. My woodworking has ended, but I still come here to see what others are building and for the friendly relationships I've been fortunate to develop. If you want to learn about woodworking, or anything else for that matter this is the place to be. By the way, glad to see you posting @Pauley.

Fifty years ago, when I was newly married (and low on funds) I bought a set of cheap drill bits. While using the 3/16' bit in some sort of hardwood, it just stopped going any deeper. Upon inspection, I noticed that the first half of the bit had 'un-wound' itself, and was now twisted counter-clockwise! Lesson learned!

   And I must agree with the others' comments... This is THE best website EVER!

Dear Patriot Woodworkers, the confirmation letters have gone out today, regarding your donations and ticket entry confirmations. I'll watch our email for the rest of day to catch any last minute donors. We'll close the raffle at midnight pacific time tonight.

For now though, we want to thank each and everyone of you for your efforts and charity to our forum and helping us stay live.

We had some last minute donations before midnight last night, the confirmation emails have gone out this morning.

I'd like to give y'all a rough estimate before the official tally, I believe we've received around 1700 dollars from you all and even quite a few outsider folks who love checking in on us from time to time

We are good till next Summer and we'll even have some proceeds leftover in our coffers for some charitable giving to those in need. Thank you all!

As mentioned above, frequently folks like us to donate their prizes to a veteran who could really use these items. Many of you may not know @Mark Wilson, we supported his efforts a few years back to fund raise and help outfit his shop. Now after a whole lot of work and finagling with the VA Mark was able to acquire funds through a special program to build a home living space/shop for himself and his daughter to live in. And he's still acquiring tools and machinery to complete his shop.

So if you don't have any use for your prize, please inform us in the topic, and we'll have your item shipped to Mark Wilson!
