June 7, 20242 yr Popular Post Looks like we made it to that 5th day after the weekend. Still playing catch up to the mess that is our yards here "Two Weeks from Anywhere". Had to replace the magneto on the walk behind mower and sharpen the blades on the zero-turn rider. Not sure if I'll get any play time this weekend. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
June 7, 20242 yr Popular Post Looks to be a hot one here, depending upon your POV - I do put 90*+ in the hot category. A run to the bank this morning and a couple other errands to run, begin packing or at least thinking about packing for our first rail adventure that begins next week. Finish up a small shelf, mow the lawn, clean up Julie's car, invited out for supper this evening, get with the neighbor boys to go over the cat's feeding schedule, look for my National Parks Pass - I know I have it here somewhere... I'll be busy...
June 7, 20242 yr Popular Post Well I'm working my Friday off today, but hey the overtime is good money! Tomorrow we'll be heading back up to Dad's place and try to get his things together and bring them down the mountain. I have to hitch up an old utility trailer I had stored up there and drive it down, and we have his personal belongings packed up and ready to move down, and I'm just starting in on his shop full of tools and such. Our son and I went through his shop over the last couple weekends and he chose quite a few things he wants to keep from his Grandpa, so he has his pile of things on one table, then our son n law and oldest daughter will be up next weekend to choose what they want, I already packed up quite a few hand tools I remember since I was a kid that he used and I'll keep those. He has quite a few portable tools and the big item is his table saw, one that nobody can use at this point. I don't have room for it at my home. It's a Delta Rockwell with a Bies fence. Then we got a wedding to attend on Sunday. A bit busy this weekend
June 7, 20242 yr Popular Post It's National Donut Day, and by Federal Law donut's can't have calories in them today....so I'll have a couple before I start on some leftover lawn things. Otherwise it's piddling in the shop!

Otherwise it's piddling in the shop! There's a very good donut a few towns away. They are offering a free "peanut butter and jelly donut" today, while they last. From the picture, it's a jelly filled donut with peanut butter frosting. As much as I like donuts, I think I'll pass, and they are probably all gone by now anyway and just saved myself a half hour drive. They are just down the block from the sewing machine repair shop where my wife gets her machines tuned. So a drop off and pick up are in the near future. Edited June 7, 20242 yr by kmealy

June 7, 20242 yr Been another busy week. Right now sitting at repair shop waiting for them to finish test drive on wife's Jeep. Seems the new (reman) alternator replaced in April failed. Lifetime warranty parts/ labor so there's that. Headed to Boilertown in a bit. Menards, Rural King, maybe Harbor Freight (go H-F), then take a look at that used pickup I spied. New old pushrods for the mower should be here today, so replace them, then mow and mow some more. Set-up a couple more raised bed frames tomorrow maybe. Church services Sunday. Oh yeah, the most anticipated day of the year has arrived today. Always the first Friday of June. Check it out HERE!
June 7, 20242 yr Popular Post Oh I give up @Grandpadave52, what is HERE!! Getting packed today for a 9 hour show tomorrow at AG Museum for Pickle Fest. They say expecting 15,000 but we will see. Church Sunday and probably pass out.

June 8, 20242 yr Popular Post Checked 2 sales, today...cabinet hardware at one...and a Lufkin No. 460 zig-zag Ruler...Meh.... A LARGE branch from the neighbor's Tulip tree came down out of his tree, and onto the roof of MY house....then, while pulling the dang thing off of the roof, it flipped around, and bounced off the back of me head...( since it was my head, no harm was done)....had to get out the 16" Electric Chain Saw and chop it down to size...there is still a short piece of the tree still up there..about 8' long... Other than that..not much going on here....
June 8, 20242 yr Popular Post Yesterday went as planned; errands run, shelf done, evening turned out to be a birthday supper for Julie as we will be up north next week. While walking through the park yesterday I was reminded that today is the peach festival in North Peach Park (down the street from us). That will be a bunch of arts & crafts, live bands playing all afternoon into the early evening, food, games and such for the kids and cap it off with fireworks. I will try and get the lawn done early today so that I can go over later in the afternoon. We have been very hot & dry lately, fireworks might be iffy...
June 9, 20242 yr Stop the world, I wanna get off.... It has been one of those times. Planned on doing some turning BUT Friday evening I noticed my "smartphone" could not access the internet thru my wireless router. Hmm... every other wireless device was working fine. Digging deeper, into networking operation discovered that the iPhone was pulling a 169.x.x.x IP address- that's not supposed to happen! Release, renew- same? Reboot wireless router- same????? Reset the router and created new name/login. Same problem. Has to be the phone. No problem, I have phone backed up to the cloud. Wipe phone and reload- oh wait restore only work via wireless! OK, download new phone setup into iTunes (45minutes later at 1am) I now have a "new phone" pulling the correct IP address 192.168.x.x. Back to cloud and restore from backup (1 hour- 2am). Still have correct IP address. Oh, yeah, in the mean time, new network information has to be entered into all the other wireless devices. Wait a minute, just why in the he** are all of the wireless devices missing from my network scan? (3am) I can't see the computer screen any longer. Saturday morning foregoing the regular cartoon watching. Still nothing with wireless connection to the network on some of the other devices (2 phones, one laptop and doorbell camera are connected- all 5G). Router is dual band and both are operating. Then the lightbulb comes on!! what about your Dual band Wi-Fi extender hidden behind the living room chair- Yep- not connected to the network. That's right, you changed the network name- dummy! Reset extender and following instructions TRIED to get it to connect to the "new" network. Quick method, reports success. No connection, Wired method, reports success. No connection. Manual method, reports success. No connection. Deduction- bad extender- I hope- ordered from Amazon and don't you know, I just dropped my Prime account so no one day shipping. Current thinking is the extender failed and somehow FUBARed the system. AND, in the midst of all of this- dead battery in car
June 9, 20242 yr Popular Post Just getting back on after all day yesterday for a profitable event. Still moving a little slow after a 13 hour day yesterday and just dumped everything in shop last night. So now have funds for more turning tools when I go to SWAT in August.
June 10, 20242 yr Author Popular Post @lew Are you by chance near a highway with high truck traffic? Those tattle-tales on the trucks use the 5G band and knock us offline if I'm connected using the 5G band when they go by, so I just leave everything on the 2.4G band.

Actually the next neighbor's both drive big rigs. That might have been part of the problem. Thanks for the idea!!

We live on a 4-lane state highway with a lot of truck traffic. (West bound lanes are about 35' in front of our place) Wife noticed it would happen when big rig trucks went by and started saying wait a few seconds and a truck will go by. Don't know why but it would cause the "Stupid TV" and Computer to lose signal when the 5G signal would basically get "Jammed". Doesn't seem to affect the 2.4G signal.
