:ChinScratch: Not sure how that happened. <_<

Looks like it might rain at most any time and forecast shows this all weekend.

I have a couple outside jobs to do before it starts this rain event.  Then, if it is raining I have some vinyl work to do.  One design and a few decals to cut out and one coffee mug to sandblast.  Most of my efforts this weekend will likely be focused on the new design, I've not found exactly what I want on line so a lot of editing on a design I did find.

Sunday we have a big birthday party for a niece, hope it's nice outside...

May give that Birthday Present a work out?

Whew busy day already; way outside my normal routine. Mrs. and I were out early in the fog to my youngest grandsons elementary school. All the fourth graders were enacting as wax figures, Famous Hoosiers. 59 stations; each kid had a "button" to press to hear their approximately 30 second message. Still haven't got the whole story of how/why our grandson chose to be his famous person, but he portrayed John Dillinger:lol: He was the only actual criminal of the 59...unless you count Axl Rose:rolleyes:. I told him to stay away from any girl dressed in red today. It was actually very cool and a creative fun way for the kids (and probably most of their parents;)) to learn about Indiana history.

On from there to Boilertown, quick drive through at McDs for a sausage sandwich, on to get my haircut, then Rural King, Harbor Freight (go Harbor Freight):Pon to Menards, quick stop at Casey's for a donut and iced coffee, then home. Started the unloading process, but taking a break now. Finish the unloading in a bit, attend to the bird feeder stations, fold laundry in the dryer, then maybe, follow the stringtrimmer around the property.

Monthly Men's Breakfast tomorrow AM, then start mowing again. Sunday church, then re-settle youngest granddaughter in for the summer. She finished her last final this AM, but is attending graduation ceremonies Saturday.

It’s Friday night, and I have been busy…

Test fit the first plantation shutter where it is going to go.
As soon as I put it there, the wife says “oh i like the light colored wood (poplar) can we leave it like that?

umm… no, you said white it is going to get painted. I’m not remaking it in maple or ash.

Crisis averted :)

So far so good, and I am back to doing slats for the other one.   That one will be painted too :)

Having spent all week at the hospital with Marie and her 2nd back surgery, nothing else got done at home. She was supposed to be released by Thursday but things changed. She might come home today after which it will be mostly caregiver duties for me, at least for some time.

Fred I hope she recovers quickly! Prayer and thoughts

Finishing up the 9 roll outs for the kitchen cabinets.  Used the box joint jig and they look pretty good.  Experimenting with different proportions for the wipe on poly.  Mixed up small amounts for the different coats, and seems like 25-30% spirits works best for me.  No brush marks or runs!

Daughter goes back to school today. I was asked to make a Power T cutting board for one of my mother in laws sitters. Too many ideas running through my mind. Lol

After two back surgeries, I really hope and pray she has some relief and, your caregiver's duties are as short as possible. Do you cook? After Phyl's heart procedure, TV dinners got pretty monotonous.  My skills in the kitchen are severely limited.

I'll echo what Gene has said.  I expect you are a good cook, though :)

A semi monumental day for me this last Wednesday, I had to leave the field after 20 years in the field, the last 12 as a project survey Crew Chief. It was a bitter sweet day for me, it didn't hit me until the end of the day and my partner and I drove our last stake together in the ground for a bridge and rail project I've been the surveyor on.

As he started driving that stake in the ground, it was about 3 o clock in the afternoon and I just realized, this is the last stake of my career! We paused, and he hammered it in, I collected the position, and we headed back to the truck to wrap up the notes for the day.

We drove back to the field office listening to our favorite radio show, shooting the bull, talking about our kids and wives, we insulted each other many times as field guys do, he reminded me I'd be up with all the "office wussys" now, he begged me not to turn into one .

My first day in the office was this past Thursday, it's a lateral move, not a promotion. I had to leave the field because of some health issues I am having, and the constant abuse on my body from construction work, and the upcoming summer desert heat would have been too much this time, the medication I am on does not like the sun nor the high 110 degree plus heat we face in the desert on the construction sites, it's brutal for even the young healthy guys.

It was a good run in the field, but I'll end my career in the office reviewing and submitting for recordation Parcel and Tract Maps submitted by the private lands industries. I plan on retiring relatively soon.

So with that, I gotta honestly say, it's pretty danged nice sitting in my office chair with my master controls at hand, with the world at my finger tips, reviewing maps in the cool year round 74 degrees Fahrenheit environment, I can put my lunch in the fridge, I can microwave left overs from the last night, I can go on a break time walk around the block, and ya, it's just pretty danged nice. On top of that, I have come home these last couple days with energy to do more things around the home, after a day in the field I'd roll home completely exhausted, burnt out from the day in the field, stress levels high from the weight of the world of contractors and sleepless nights thinking about the next days mission, or thinking whether or not I put that 25 million dollar bridge in the right place. Now, I come home and I'm ready to actually listen to my wife tell me about her day instead of gazing off into the distance from being tired, I can do things after work now because I have more energy. I loved the field, but this transition is needed.

Thanks for reading my rambling :)

Congratulations on your lateral move. That's gotta feel like a promotion, though.

In a way it does Gene, I've been promoted from the dirt to the carpet.

Larry, I'm learning, it's a culture shift for sure, I'm the loudest guy in the office, I say hi to everyone when I arrive and goodbye before I leave, they look at me like I'm from a different planet!

I joke with the young guys there, and they don't know what to do, they just slink back in their chairs and look at their PC's.
