January 9Jan 9 Author Popular Post I'll do some final profiling before I call it good but I have me a false stem fashioned and attached. I used some apoxie sculpt to get a nice fit and also wood glue for securement. I think its a bit bulky but I'll take it, My breast hook wasn't fitting great so I used the original for a pattern and just enlarged the size. I finished shaping it this evening.
January 14Jan 14 Author Popular Post Notched out the top of the frames for frame head irons. Not sure what I will use yet for material, but I'll find something. Some decent reference was found in the Dory book. I thought it was a good time to apply a thin coat of primer.

January 16Jan 16 Author Popular Post While I had some staining going this evening I hit my oars for some color. I had rounded out the handle end a little yesterday with a needle file for final shaping. Topped them off with some home brew finish.
February 16Feb 16 Author Popular Post I've been working on color on the inside of the boat. I used a variety of stains. They are a little more shiny than I like but have been working on trying to dry that up a bit with turpentine and sunlight today. I'll be giving it it's first coat of oil paint hopefully one day this week. As per previous posts I'm making a shelf to for it to ride on to hang in my shop. I did a little mock up while ago of what I have going. My base is now stained, I'm going to attach it to the shelf at some point. The cradles I plan to make out of bone or antler using the kit cradles for a pattern.
February 17Feb 17 A real fooler. It could easily be mistaken for a full scale build with a bit of photography illusion.
