My favourite neighbour (Sorry, Canuck spelling.) got the driveway blown out before I even got up. 2 hours ago, Grandpadave52 said: Glad it was no worse than that John. I can see why he's your favorite neighbor (Sorry, USA spelling). If you were to give him a dozen Tim Hortons doughnuts (no apology, universal language), you'll quickly become his favourite neighbour. (neighbourhood spelling) I think I'm just going to start saying the guy/gal next door. And what is a Tom Hortons?

March 24, 20242 yr Author @Grandpadave52 Ok, I did a search to see what Tim Hortons is. If they're like DD I'll pass.

It's the quintessential Canadian donut and coffee place. There are a few of them in Ohio on the I-75 exits. I think they also sell some fast food sandwiches. Tim Bits is their name for what we would call donut holes. I have a friend who he and his wife grew up in New England and goes back to visit family. He said there are some 10 mile stretches there where you'll pass 7 Dunkin' Donut shops. So think of it as the Canadian equivalent to NE Dunkin'.
March 24, 20242 yr Popular Post Spent the day Saturday working on the theater set. People are getting a little perturbed with the construction manager who is not very good at giving directions. I made up a drawing of the 5 platforms we had to build last week in his absence. He said, "Some people like text and some people like drawings." Mind you, he had 8 pages of double spaced directions for what I expressed in two drawings, one front and one perspective on half a sheet of paper and it worked fine. That and he mis-calculated the walls and had to take them down (twice), combine two 4' walls into the one 8' wall that is needed, and cut 4' off the length of a 14 foot wall (that he bought special lumber for.) He's as irritated with the rest of the board as they are with him, too. I just don't want that job. I'm OK being is assistant.

Yes, Tim Horton's, AKA Timmy's, is THE Canadian donut/fast food place. Years ago, every store made their own pastries from scratch, and everything was DELICIOUS! Then corporate decided to have all the dough made in a central spot (China?) and shipped to individual stores to be baked. From that point on, all their donuts tasted the same. Their muffins were still great, but the rest.... EH! Then, sometime in the past few months, they decided to bring back their "Vintage" (I think) pastries, and the one variety I've tried was just as good as the originals! Timmy's made an attempt to enter the US market some years ago with limited success. But if you're ever up here in the Frozen North, give them a try. I highly recommend it!!! Their menu also includes GREAT coffee, mixed coffee-based cold drinks, sandwiches, breakfast and lunch selections, and possibly a few other items that I have forgotten (or not yet discovered). For what it's worth: Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton (January 12, 1930 – February 21, 1974)[1][2][3] was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 24 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He spent the majority of his career playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, later playing with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres. In 2017, Horton was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.[4] He died at age 44 following a single-vehicle crash in which drugs and alcohol were involved. A successful businessman, Horton co-founded Tim Hortons restaurant chain.

According to Abraham Lincoln, it has to be correct if it was on the web. Guess I was thinking a defenceman was someone who took down old fences
